I'm gonna loosely base the color scheme on my current reach model. I'm going to add some scratches and battle damage to hide my rookie work. But should be something in this ballpark...
I decided to start painting up the shoulder to try some things and see how I liked it. I wanted a cool hawk on my shoulder so I tried to make a stencil...
Mixed results...I'm not sure if i'm gonna keep it or sand it off and try again. I also added 2 red fingerprints as if they are smeared in blood but I'm kinda on the fence about how it looks. I also still need to dry brush it up to give it some added damage/hide stuff. And the big sun shaped spot I'm thinking I'll outline with black and try and make it a scorch mark, so thats why thats there if you are wondering.
And lastly I made a bit more progress on the back of the helm by using some more rondo to smooth the bottom portion out.
Front
Right side
And the left side to finish off tonights update.
And thats how it's goin so far. I've yet to put the rest of the paint work into the shoulder. I just wanted to show what I had so far.

I've been waiting for that question. I honestly don't know. My pep file has no name on it. All I can say is I grabbed it from the Halo Wiki page and that it was originally set to A4 instead of letter...(pauses to check the wiki)...
I found it. It was modeled by rundown according to the wiki. I also found the Letter format pdo link right beneath the A4. Lol. I downloaded all these files when I first started and didn't know any better about paper size. Anyways if you want the link here she is: http://www.4shared.com/file/112411488/47ed03c1/odst3ETTER.html

Finished up the paintjob on the shoulder. I think my white is a little to bright for what I was goin for but I already bought the paint so I'm just gonna use it. I did my best to kind of hide things with the dry brushing. I also sprayed some brown from a distance on it so that the overspray would make it look like it had dirt on it. It turned out OK, but if anyone has any good paint techniques, lay them on me please.
Oh well, for now it will do as I have a plethora of parts that haven't even been resined yet. I have a long road ahead but these small mile markers make it all worth it.
After using some light weight patch and paint spackle to try spot putty I have this. Which I think is getting near to being ready to paint. Just a few more spots to smooth and then a dremel to cut the lines back in.
I taped the test visor back in just for kicks to see how it looks overall.
And just for kicks a pic of me with it on along with the shoulder piece.
Thats all for now. I've reached the point where I'm gonna have to resin up some more pieces. I'll probably resin them all up in bulk now that I have the very basic skills under control.
Again any thoughts or comments are always welcome and much appreciated.

Well todays update is unfortunately...nothing. It is supposed to freeze the next couple of nights which is pretty rare here in the coachella valley. Anyways, that means no resin or bondo work until the temp changes which they say will be next week maybe. So until then I'm just gonna play some video games I've been neglecting and hope that the weather changes. Look for an update sometime late this weekend or early next week.
Long time no see! I am happy to report that I have actually finished something!! Yay!!
The helm is complete and for a first try I am quite satisfied with the way it came out. It's not super detailed but I'm happy to call this one done so I can start a better one and use all the skills I've had to learn. Still though, my wife thinks I'm a complete idiot because I'm running all over the house with it one now. Haha.
Well since funds are low at the moment. I figured why not mess around with all this cardboard I have leftover from moving. So I gave it a shot and tried my best to make a clean looking UA attachment to plus my ODST helm. For a first try I think I did ok. I realize the weathering is a little over the top, but I was trying to hide all the seams. Anyways, at least I feel like I accomplished something worthwhile. And so....picture time.
Almost forgot. I also added a little UNSC flavor on the back of the helm. I thought it looked empty back there so this spiced it up a bit.
Thanks for looking and let me know what you guys think.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I honestly haven't checked the 405th in a while. But here is the link to the tutorial thread. http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/30968-Tutorial-ODST-Visors-(and-other-useful-info)?highlight=Odst+visor
This is the exact technique I used. Except that I used a can of "tail light tint". Check your local auto parts it comes in aerosol. The only downside to my technique is that you can only have it black. But hopefully that will give you a good start. If you haven't already found all this because I took to long. Anyways...good hunting.
