Got ahold of a Gungnir helmet cast, and as Gungnir is one of my fav helmets, I decided to pimp it out. Obviously the biggest hurdle to overcome if it's going to be wearable, is how you're going to see out of it. After lots of digging around and researching, I found a few posts on here that mention an easy way to hook up a camera system to allow the wearer to see outside fairly well. As of now I have all of the aspects needed to set everything up, I just need to finish the painjob. This is what I have so far. Once the paint job is finished, I'll make followups on the fpv installation and setup, and how it all works. More posts and pics on insta of course.

As for the fpv setup itself, I went ahead and bought a used headset and some cameras off of ebay for around $200, which is an absolute steal. The headset is a Fatshark Attitude v3, an older model but it does the trick. For the camera, I just got a generic nano drone flying camera and transmitter. They work just fine, didn't need to spend too much on those. Antennas were included with the headset and camera, but since they'll be so close together inside the helmet, they're not needed. The headset didn't come with a battery charger however, and that can get pretty pricey depending, so I just bought a Fatshark battery case for the headset that takes rechargeable batteries. Once the paint and detailing is done on the helmet, I'll add the padding and camera setup inside, then I'll basically be done. More updates as I progress.

Forgot to do a post of the finished product on here, but voila! the Gungnir helmet is done, and all that's left to do is install some padding on the inside and make it wearable! Typically for these builds I like to use motorcycle helmet padding, so once I get ahold of some i'll install it and make another update, as well as a walking/sight test, because you can actually see out of it pretty well with the cam setup.

Got the padding installed and the goggles/ camera set up as well! Once it's nice out I'll make a test video of me navigating/doing stuff to show how well it works!

That is insane, the gungnir is my favorite! Is there any way you can provide some reference for the camera set up in detail unless you have done so and I would love a link?!

Excellent work on the setup and paint job!

Thanks a lot! Earlier on in this thread I took pictures and explained a bit what I did in terms of setup, it's pretty simple. Scroll back a bit to see what I used and how it's set up!

Yeah, it looked a bit more complicated than I thought originally. Yes straight forward as far as I can see.

Also, I tried to get one of those helmets myself, and I haven't had any luck with messaging Revenant yet. Hopefully, they still have one I can snag. I want one so bad! If not I will make one from scratch.

Hopefully you can, they're the best quality Gungnir helmets I was able to find, altho there are also some lower quality 3d files that are doable.

Is there any way to share what you see out of it?

I've seen loads of FPV drone videos, but I cant imagine what the depth perception must be like. Is it just one eye or can you see with both eyes?

As of now I'm unsure of how to share what the feed looks like, I think they make recorders for them but I don't have one. It's basically just like having a screen right in front of your eyes, you use both eyes to see but since there's only one actual camera there is definitely a depth perception problem, but it just takes some getting used to.

Seems like something that will take a good amount of time to get used to, and I'd even recommend having a spotter when out with it.

I've practiced a bunch just walking around my house, up and down the stairs and stuff like that, so I'm pretty used to it, but a con floor will definitely be different, what with all the people and whatnot
