Halo 3 Airsoft Guns

Hey guys, I was thinking.

Should bungie Make Halo 3 airsoft guns? It would be nice, because i mainly plan to use my armor to do Airsoft wars. If not, how do you think we should make our own? Pepakura with Airsoft parts may work, but If anyone knows the basics of making an airsoft gun, I would like to know.

If you had a cast Halo weapon, then it could probably be modified to fit around an airsoft weapon. I have seen it done with paintball guns, so it should be possible with airsoft.

Just buy cheap airsoft guns and take them apart, you can take all of the shooting mechanism out of the plastic gun shell and put it into your molded/pepped Halo weapon.

Simple, just don't lose any of the parts :D .

Ideally, I wouldn't ever suggest wearing pep or molded armor to an airsoft game. If you're using $30 walmart plinker guns that cant shoot for crap, maybe, but the higher end guns will slowly but surely eat away at the armor, thus wasting money and efforts. (If not quickly, lol)
A cheap gun from Walmart lacks the internal structure of an expensive airsoft gun ($200-$300) and is usually just tiny pieces held in place by screws and plastic poles. Without a mechbox its extremely hard. Mag's feed directly into the guns hopup, which is where the bb is fired from, Halo weapons utilize the very back of the gun for mags, so the size of an inner barrel would be outrageous, it would need to stretch from the very back, to almost the muzzle break, you'd have to physically make your own mag, or build a case for an already existing one, since mags feed into the gun. In theory, it seems possible, but in fact its extremely hard to do with a cheap gun. An expensive gun would be slightly easier because it uses a mechbox, and you can simply spend $70 on an outrageously large inner barrel, but you'd end up working off of a gun similar to the L85A1, or another rear fed gun. now that I look at it though, even the L85 wouldn't work... properly.
(Unfortunately there is no walmart version of the L85, walmart tends to only sell the FAMAS and M4's)

Someday some company may just simply manufacture a halo line of airsoft guns. =P

This guy does paintball...
Halo Paintball

I'm sure you could get intouch with him and find a way to use for airsoft... I caution as all will, not a safe game in pepped armor... and don't smoke, drink, or watch T.V. :p

It's almost easier to just pep around an airsoft gun. For the BR and AR you can pick up a FAMAS for something like $30 nowadays and just build a pep shell that will fit around it. For the BR though it's actually easier to customize it directly from the FAMAS.

The FAMAS is a french bullpup design with the clip already located in the stock behind the grip. But be careful because a lot of the airsoft spring rifles and pistols on the market today will actually crack fiberglass and dent bondo. You may get hit through your armor.

It is possible, but the body and armor has to made out of the right material. You are better off working with plastic casts than with pepped stuff. I would suggest building your armor and gun in pep, then doing the resin, fiberglass, bondo thing or whatever floats your boat and then getting molds done, and then making casts. (Or alternatively look for people selling plastic casts of their guns or armor)
As long as the plastic is a decent thickness you should have no problem. I would just recommend using foam to strengthen things like large gaps between the armor and the wearer.

A sniper rifle would (maybe?) be the easiest due to its more conventional design. Just get a good semiautomatic airsoft sniper and transplant the internals.
I was thinking of seeing if it would be feasible to use an MP-7 to either create an SMG or an MA5-K

I have seen some threads here: http://ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi that deal with putting airsoft internals into plastic shells. Sign up, go to Armory, and then technical. I believe there are some stickies that may help. Someone on the boards made some very detailed threads about his B.A.R. and Enfield airsoft rifles which were made using existing guns and plastic shells from Cushman Custom Creations (the same site that copied Adams AR!)
