HALO 3 Marines

It would be odd for the UNSC NOT to have berets, seeing as most of the world's militaries use them in some capacity right now. I think faded multicam may do the trick, though I generally try to avoid the cheap stuff. I'm just too hard on clothing and equipment to buy cheap. BTW, ShArK, do you have any military service under your belt, or do you just really look the part?

Alright, dig this. Berets are popular among the US Army right now, but ultimately these things are usually temporary. Uniforms have changed throughout the years, and modern uniforms bear no resemblance to uniforms used in the American Revolution. Although berets have grown in popularity in the last 50 years, there is no telling what the headgear of the future will be. But the Marine Corps is fortunately one exception. Marines are proud of their traditions, and are not likely to change them even over many generations. and although the Army, Navy, and Air Force have adopted berets, Marines are not likely to adopt it. Ever. That's just the way Leathernecks are. But who the hell would want a beret, anyway? I personally hate berets. They are a pain in the ass to wear and maintain all the time. When you buy one, you have to shave it, shape it, then stretch it to keep it from shrinking. It takes time to get it to look the way you want it to, and I end up buying a new one every 6 months. Don't believe me? Just look at all those soldiers who don't know how to wear a beret. It looks rediculous, something like a mix between a cook's hat and a beanie. Army-wide berets are a mistake. But in any case, Army policy is to discontinue beret use of the beret when entering a theater of operations. When in theater, soldiers wear helmets, boonies, the patrol cap, and the beanie. So yeah.

The US military is the exception, not the rule. Nearly every military in the world uses berets as part of the uniform. Remember, although they may resemble the USMC is some ways the UNSCDF is just that, The United Nations Space Command Defense Forces. For further evidence, here's a quote from the gameplay. It's said by Gunnery Sergeeant Pete Stacker: "You do not deserve to wear the beret!" That's pretty definitive, is it not?
