I think it would distort greatly over than many castings.

Also cost a ton.... but I like they way you think!

Yeah, it'd probably lose a !@$#-tonne of detailing, but expand it supposedly preserves details up to 2x the volume of the original cast.... So if you lose about 1% detail each cast, and it takes 10 casts.... You'd still have (theoretically) 90% of the detailing.
