Happy Halo-Days everyone!

It's that time of year where we hear the jingle of SangheliClaus delivering toys to all the good little SPARTANs and Unggoy and to help keep us crafters on our "A-game" for the upcoming convention season the Stream Team has come up with a fun challenge to help keep everyone's mind working while spending time away from their workshops. Welcome to the first 405th Gingerbread Build Challenge!

The rules are simple. Using up to three store bought gingerbread house kits you must construct a seasonally appropriate Winter Contingency themed gingerbread structure. Why do we say structure? Well, Pepakura has been a staple in the community for nearly 20 years, how many times have we seen delicious cookie armour or props? What if you wanted to build a scale recreation of Kizingo Boulevard but with more Frostravens and Snowball laden Huragoks? As long as it is made of cookies and sweets while being Halo themed, it counts!

Now for the contest part, all you need to do to enter is submit at least three photos of your build in this thread. Easy right? Points will be awarded based on the following rubric.

Score Calculation
Each category is scored out of a possible fifteen points and then three hundred points is added for a possible sum total of 405 points.
  • Appearance (Does it look good)
  • Creativity (Thinking outside the box of store bought gingerbread)
  • Halo Goodness (Deep lore cuts are what judges love)
  • Holly Jolly Levels (It's festive! It's the Winter Contingency!)
  • Award Modifiers (We have a selection of secret challenges, can you complete them?)
  • +/- for Material Use (Cosplay... er, gingerbread materials are expensive, efficient use is always awarded!)
  • Bonus (Judges discretion)
Judging will be completed on New Years Day 2024 so make sure to set a bit of time aside to build a delicious creation with your friends and family this year!

Are team builds allowed? So like if two 405th members want to work together on their creation, but still stick to the up to three store bought gingerbread houses rule.
