At the start of the year, I started to make a Halo Magnum prop for my ODST cosplay. I used a Andrew DFT pattern, using foam board and EVA 5mm high density foam.
I used a few different tools such as a box cutter, hot wire cutter and heated blade.
With glue I use 2 different types, Hot glue which was quick and easy but i dont find is stay as well. The contact adhesive work well but does melt the foam.
I very lightly heat sealed it with a heat gun.
Using a 4 step prep base, the a black acrylic paint as a base.
I used Resene testpot paints and mixed my own colours to get 3 different shades of grey then dry brushed chrome for high light/ weathering, then finished with a black wash.
I wish I could have spent more time on working this but I need for a photo shoot so it ended put being a little rushed but I'm still really happy with it.!!
Finished look below.
