Hello everyone,

This is my first official project on here. I've been lurking and reading up on everything, watched a lot of tutorials and I finally decided to just start my project.

I'm not entirely new to pepping but I figured I should start working on something I've been wanting to do for a long time.

First off special thanks to Rundown for doing the 3D render and pepfile, would not have been able to start this without that.

So after printing, cutting and a couple mishaps while pepping I ended up with this:

I know its not the best, but it's my first helmet and I'm hoping the rest of the hardsuit turns out just as good if not better than this. Updates will be slow as I'll be taking my time on this.

Hey, Bubblegum Crisis! I haven't been reminded of this in years and years! Looks good so far, looking forward to seeing more!

Edit: And also, welcome to the forums! :D

Okay, so I've made some progress on the helmet. Finally.

Fiberglassed the whole helmet with fiberglass resin, made sure it wouldn't warp by stuffing it with tons of little bags. Once that was finished I moved onto figuring what method I'd use on the inside.

I couldn't decided at first whether or not I should fiberglass the inside or use the rondo method, after reading up on both I went with the rondo. Looking back I really should have used rondo on the wing things on the side of the helmet first and then attached them to the helmet, as it was tricky making sure it got all the way down inside them.

Once that was set I put bondo on the outside, in the low spots and tried to make it look a little rounder. Still needs a bit of sanding in places but I really like how it's coming along so far.

Got some more pics to share of my progress. The chest piece went together rather easily, only thing I can see having an issue with is making sure it doesn't warp while I'm fiberglassing it. Thinking of plastic bags and some kind of foam on the inside while I do that. Here's a couple pics of the chest piece front and side view, I kept one piece off so I can rondo the inside.

Also a picture of the abdominal armor and pelvis thing, whatever it's called, it's gonna be a pain to put on. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to do the undersuit.

I cant wait to see more of this build! I have to admit that im more of a fan of the original 2033 series but the more BGC stuff the better! :)

Were Rundown's files on this board anywhere?

I am currently speaking to someone about creating an original series hardsuit object ready to create a pep suit. Still early days tho.

I'd be lucky if I ever started this well on my first Pep project...it looks as though you're making good headway into your project!:) I'm afraid I can't really give advice, as I am an EXTREME noob when it comes to this. XD I'm totally new and so will be watching everybody here in an attempt to improve. Thanks for sharing your work!

Look up guys, he hasn't updated in two months ^

But, this thing still looks freaking awesome, and I REALLY want to see it finished now O:

Combust: No the files aren't anywhere on this site that I know of, sorry.

Texas: Thanks! I actually ran into a bit of a problem while making this, and I'm trying to fix it.

Swift: I want to finish this so bad! I ran into a bit of a problem though. The chest piece warped badly and I'm trying to fix it, or I'll have to start all over with it, which will suck. Also I moved so that set me back a lot as far as working on this project. That's why I haven't updated anything in forever. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up so people can see I've made some progress. I just didn't want to post anything without proof of what I've worked on.

Ah i think i saw somewhere that it was a commission piece. Its somthing to keep in mind as if these talks fall through ill have another avenue.

But i understand about the life bit getting in the way of projects... :)

Yeah, I was having such a hard time finding a file I could pep and somehow convert into the hardsuit I wanted, and asking someone to do a 3D render and unfold something this complex for free just didn't sit right with me. It would have been nice if I could have gotten someone to do it for free, but I wouldn't have gotten started on it for awhile.

Also I'm thinking the chest piece warped because I had to rip it apart and piece it back together because the "breast's" on the armor were huge. It looked like I had missile's on the front. I know the armor is supposed to be slightly bigger, but this armor is more form fitting. I didn't want to end up looking like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/518VFZTE67L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I did use support structures, but perhaps I didn't use enough. Oh well, hopefully it'll turn out all right in the end.

Did you rondo the inside or use fiberglass after the resin? I havent had much luck with rondo as it warps the crap out of anything i put it in unless its completly rigid first. Perhaps you will need multiple layers of resin first?

Cant wait to see an update. Im living through you for my BGC fix :D

Cheers.

I decided to use rondo as I figured in the long run it would be easier to patch when I made mistakes. My stuff hasn't warped except in tiny places that are easily fixed, I just think the neck piece wasn't supported enough, because that's what's warped the most. I'll link some pics and you can see what I'm talking about.

I haven't gotten around to cleaning up the edges yet, so forgive the how messy it all looks right now. I put a light coat of rondo on the front of the chest piece as I had some left over while hardening the inside. That will be sanded down and shaped properly once I get other pieces put together.

Wow nice work! I really like how this is turning out. Any ideas on how you will structure the 'boots'? I believe in this version there should be enough room to actually have the foot bend.

Did Rundown let you know what his distribution rights were? Im assuming to get a copy of the pep we have to speak to him? Im curious as im thinking about asking for a commission as well.

Cheers.
(Dont mind me, im just super interested in your build!)

That's what I'm going to work on next actually, I had the idea of building them around some high heels lol. I can't think of any other way to get the look right.

He didn't say, but that's what I would do. He's very good at working with you, and his work is amazing.

(I don't mind at all. I'm glad someone is showing interest in what I'm doing.)

Oh wait I have seen those, completely forgot to look at how they did the feet for the hardsuit.

Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking, inbeding a shoe or high heeled boot into the 'foot'. It's going to take some experimenting with, and hopefully I won't ruin any shoes doing it, looks like I'll have to hit up a few thrift stores for some throw away shoes.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions. :) I'll get to work on pepping the 'feet' and other parts over the holiday as I'll have to wait for it to warm up to sand the pieces I've already hardened.

Made some more progress, started with the base of the 'feet'.

You can see the left one isn't as neat as the right one, mostly because I did the left 'foot' first, trying to make it so I could slip an actual shoe inside it. The right 'foot' was easier to piece together as I corrected the mistakes I made on the left one. I tried to make them as symmetrical as possible, but I'm hoping I can cover things up with a little bondo after the rest of the leg is attached to it.

Nice work man, i can picture it already :D

Ive been thinking about this on my lunch break and figured there arent too many ways you can get the boot to sit in the foot area. You could use the expanding foam, keeping in mind that if you put too much in it would flow up the boot and stop you closing the laces/zip etc. Ie getting your foot in there will be impossible. If you keep the foot area as a seperate piece it could allow you some movement in the ankle, as well as ease of doing up the boot. Then mounting it to the leg part would be hard.

Ah... so many problems and ideas! :)

Anyway there was a 'Kat' thread here (I think) where the OP used expanding foam to mount a boot in Kat's boot armor. Or it could have been Thorsilli's thread. I digress, but they had to tie down the boot so it wouldnt be moved out of place when the expanding foam hardened.

Cheers.

Glad you can picture it, it's going to be difficult, but not impossible I think. Lots of trial and error that's for sure. I'll keep that in mind, I think the expanding foam will be the best route, just make sure to add a little at a time.

I've gotten quite a bit pepped and I'll be adding more pictures shortly, figured I might as well work on pepping while the 'feet' harden.

Had a few problems while I was pepping the thigh pieces but I managed to fix it, lucky I got a stockpile of cardstock so I can redo something if I mess up to badly. In this last picture you get a better look of how this goes together I think. The only part that's missing is the 'foot', I'll figure out a way to attach or have the leg just slip over the 'foot' part.

So I have a little more progress, got all the pieces for the hardsuit pepped out finally. Working on hardening everything, going to experiment a bit with that, maybe even try some of that eva foam for certain parts of the hardsuit. Lots of ideas, and going to see what works I guess.

battery- This I just pepped out to get an idea of the size, so I could get some clear plasic tube or something and run some led lights inside. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg319/TarinRomonova/Priss Hardsuit/IMG_680711.jpg

I also realized I haven't posted any pics of the actual hardsuit, (what I'm hoping it will end up looking like when it's completed), so people can get a better idea and critique, maybe even give me ideas on how to get the look right.

Just a little update on this, I'm working out the undersuit while I fiberglass pices so here's a pic of some of the stuff on me. Unfortunately it's hard to get pictures with stuff on as I have no one to take the picture and at the moment I don't have a decent camera with a tripod.

Finally figured out there's image coding so people don't have to click links to see the pictures.
