For those that have done this, have you ran into any issues with feedback from the microphone? I've been trying to determine if it's a mic placement issue picking up the speaker, or if I damaged something during disassembly.

I haven't had feedback issues. Your mics might be too close to the speakers

If you are still experiencing this problem you should post a picture of your board.

I'm assuming that it was a combination of the mic and speakers being too close and not having any foam helping isolate the two from each other, I'm still experimenting with placement of the components, but will update if I continue to have issues.

First of all, thanks for that tutorial it is exactly what I was looking for to improve my helmet, already pulled the trigger on that headphones and now I am going to recruit some friend of mine firm in soldering for teaching me how to fish... ehrm solder.

I hope i did not read over it, but did anybody try if this in any way interferes with a microphone and an external speaker (mounted in chestplate)?

Asking because it's nice to hear my surroundings, but I dont feel like yelling through my helmet and wanted to improve that too, by using some kind of "teachers microphone".

This guide does not include integration with a helmet mic and chest speaker. Many have used the "teachers microphone" as you stated. with a mic just in the helmet and wither a wire or blue tooth to the speaker in the chest. there are many options out there for this. I bought one but have not yet fully implemented it.

I have integrated this hearing system with a voice amp system. As long as you use shielded cable, you shouldn’t get interference.
