I decided to make a noble six helmet, and well... this happened:
dsc00673ib.jpg
Didnt hide my face this time. Might as well do it now rathar than later.

Anyway, if you have not figured out what is going on, that is the very bottom of the helmet. It doesn't fit over my head. when re-scaling i did this.

155 (cm in height) + 10 (im still growing.)
1650/87 (8.7 was the height in cm in the picture i printed of him)
18.9 (rounded off to 19.)
Used this as my scale. Also was on A4 cardstock.
So forum, what should i do?
I was thinking i should continue to see how well i can do it, then make a proper sized one to fit my head.

Credit to xtreme tactics for the tutorial. He really is a great guy lads.
Thanks in advance.
~once again. Mark.

Keep in mind when scaling, the measurements listed in pepakura are at the widest/longest/tallest points of the helmet, and you need to plan accordingly. Also, plan for padding (2-3cm at minimum), glasses if you wear them, any Fans or LED equipment that needs to be hidden, or - as in my case - the Computer screen for the HUD. All of this needs to be done in advance, but at least you did the bottom piece first like a smart person :p . I did my first Recon and ODST helmet top to bottom... Whoops.

Usually helmet's neck brims don't fit over your head. Most of the time they're cut at the end. Although your's does look a little small. I would build a bit more and see how it works out.

Morphen is right, often for a helmet to not be big and goofy, it'll have to be a little smaller around the neck than it should. Not to mention once it's solid (full pep and resin), you'll be able to give it a little more of a push to get around that hair. Hard to tell at this phase though (and I don't have the file handy to check). I say keep going and see how it turns out (and it's good practice anyway).

Edit: Oh, I looked at the file... yeah that is a bit on the small size. I... don't think that's going to fit on your head.

Well, I’m going to be completely honest. Obviously the method is not completely perfect. There is a problem for people who are shorter then 5’9” tall, and anybody who is over 6’5” tall. This is not due to the mathematical equation of the method, it is because at certain ages and certain heights of humans. Your head is not in proper proportion with the rest of your body because of your growth speed. At birth your head is far larger then it is supposed to be proportion wise to your body, however as you grow your head enlarges slower then the rest of your body therefore at a certain point making your body proportional. This is a completely natural thing, however it does complicate scaling for some members. SunlightDelta, you have fallen into that group of people.

I can offer you my scaling guidance via MSN or Skype if you would like. My contact information is as follows.
