How To Glass A Ar

It's hard to fiberglass a weapon unless you want to resin it 2-3 times outside, then use a dremel and slice it in half which may ruin it. The best thing is to fill it with something, a mixture of bondo and resin that is thick, but still runs usually works good. Mix some bondo and resin, half and half of each, and pour it in, then let it sit in the hot sun all day, maybe for 2 days. I noticed the more sun resin/bondo gets, usually the more cured and less smelly it is.

No.

A tutorial that teaches how to fiberglass would not be in the fiberglass sticky. Where is the logic in that?

bt in al srsnessesity, k?, yeah, read the stickies.

Dont be flaming the poor noob for being new, we were all new at one time.

Sorry, but there is no sticky on how to fiberglass a Autorifle, but there is a fiberglass sticky for fiberglassing objects in general, it's made mostly for army pieces since they have openings, but the AR is a sealed object, you either fill it with something, or resin it like crazy to harden.

LOL...and they told you to look in the stickies!! Hey wait there is no stickie on how to GLASS A AR!! There has been questions asked about this before and MLC actually did it by cutting his AR into sections and added Styrene to the inside as reinforcement! Come to think of it...I have not seen anyone "Fiberglass" a AR yet, nor has anyone. What I actually plan on doing when I get to that point is either way;

1) After I have added a layer or 2 to the outside...cut it in half then actually glass the inside then EPOXY the whole thing together. Might be a bit heavy after all that but its a thought.

2) Maybe do the method that Thor did as well as PSberetta did with there helmets and add "polyresin" on the inside and slush it around a bit praying it gets to all the nooks and crannies...HOPEFULLY!!

I hope that helps out a bit!!

LOL...if not just PM Adam, heck I think I might do that myself!! :p

EDIT: Frost you are fast and I haven't seen you in a bit!! Nice to see ya!!

Guys, don't bite his head off for a question that doesn't have an answer to it. There are no stickies about glassing an AR. Please read the question, THEN check if there is an answer before reffering them to the stickies. Thank you.

"Read the sticky" seemed to be an appropriate answer, seeing that there isn't a separate glassing tutorial for each piece of armor and/or weapon. It's all generalized.

i heard that if you apply resin in about 3-4 layers, you can use expanding foam after everything hardens, to give the fragile resin a bit extra oomph.

the resin would prevent the foam from warping it, i presume, but you would have to mix it fairly well, and let it set for a day or two.

Please, always use the proper grammar in every post you make. Thank you.
I was able to understand his post quite easily, he really only made like 1 or 2 grammar mistakes, stop whining about grammar and get over it, its the internet.

...Which were very easily avoidable!

Ok, besides readingme recomending reading the stickies (and I do mean all of them, just for the sake of knowledge) I have successfully built a Sniper Rifle by using pep as a base. What I did was, after I built the enitial cardstock base I resined the outside about 4-5 times in most places. Once it was stable and could stand on it's own without warping, I drilled a few holes along the bottom and sides of the rifle. Then I filled the interior of the rifle with expanding foam in sections. Expanding foam has somethign that's called "gas-out" and thats why I made a few holes in the body of the rifle, I used a unbent paperclip to help the "gas-out" process by pokin the paperclip through the drying expanding foam, I did this for about 6 hours, poking every 30 minutes. If you dont "gas-out", when the foam fully cures it will all of a sudden suck the sides of the pep inwards, and then you have a problem (it can always be fixed later with Bondo, thats what I did in some places).

Using foam will make it lightweight but sturdy. You just have to be careful with the foam. Also I like this way better than cutting the weapon in half which, like said before, may not be fixable if you do it wrong.

Hope that helps, if you need visual reference as to what I just said, click on the link to my SR WIP in my signature. And feel free to PM me any further questions if you decide to go this way^
