Yeah, basically you just get treated poorly unless you're older. And supposedly [I don't know the full details on this] you have to sell magazines or something to work there. and thats just one thing, nothing major but like I said, I've heard a lot of bad things.

I haven't read all of it but it appears that other people agree.
I worked at one for about a year.
Basically, you have to sell gameinformer subscriptions, and EDGE cards, those numbers are what keeps your job. The store i worked at was (they closed 4 months ago) realively slow. Much like a mom & pop shop. But the distric manager would always complain that our numbers weren't keeping up to the mall stores..
He somehow expected our store, to have he same volume as a MALL location.
And that's pretty much the reason why the store is now closed..
Oh and here's a neat little trivia for everyone...
Remember when (2002-2003) gamestop used to not take trades for broken consoles (PS2 disc read error, etc)??
Here's the reason why they started taking trades was.
Corporate managers, during a store visit, found out that I was repairing PS2s, xbox and gamecube consoles on the side.
You know, to help out the kids who couldn't afford a new replacement machine...
About 3 weeks later, gamestop started taking in defective systems.. My store also received an email saying that any employees performing repairs, would be immediately terminated..
Hmmmm, I wonder who that email was written to... :rolleyes
