I have already put the rebound 25 on my chest piece but I am wondering how to fiberglass the shell around it. Should i still do a 2 piece shell like i did on my helmet? I would appreciate any feedback.
I recommend a one-piece fiberglass clamshell backing, with handles on the sides, as you will probably be slushcasting your plastic into your mold by hand, am I right?
I'm going to have to disagree. A two part mold, or even more, may be more work and more money, but in the end it can make your casting a lot easier and cleaner, and can extend the life of your molds.
But Gregnizzle is asking about the mother mold. He's already applied his silicone. I would say yes, a two part mold. King Cobra has the right idea. One on the front, one on the back. The most important thing to remember is to make sure there are no undercuts, and envision how you'll pull the molds off. Will you be able to pull the hard mother mold off with the also-hard model inside? It needs to be able to come straight off, without needing any flex.
Ultimately, there is no ONE way to get it done. Just put some planning into it. There are alos TONS of videos and guides online if you're looking for technique. Good luck!
EDIT: This was my 666th post. Hope that doesn't jinx you...
I would actually recommend a one part mold if it is just the chest portion. The two part mold is a lot of work, and you don't need it because you don't have any serious undercuts in the rebound mold. the pull should just pop out. If you look at Adams mold, its a one piece. The one peice can also be easier to seat the silicon. I would really say go with a one peice. if you don't like it then you can always make a two peice.

I have made a similar shaped mold of a chest piece, and mine was a 3 part shell. My problem, was even though there was no real under cuts, the mold shell would not pull straight off in any one direction, so I just choose parting lines that would make shell construction easier.
