I Need CraftRobo Help...

I bought a CraftRobo, got it all set up, and printed my pep files. Next, I tried to cut them out, but I ran into problems. I went to Mel's CraftRobo site, and used the US Letter fix.

Here's exactly what I do: Click cut developments, Details, check Mountain Folds and Cut With Solid Line, Ok. Ok again, change print setup to Craft Robo, paper size to Letter, Ok. Change media type to Thick Media, check Adjust settings, change speed to 5 and Thickness to 10. Then I mount the Blue Cap. I align the paper with the guide mark (with the two registration marks at the top and the last at the bottom right corner), and feed it up so it's even with the top of the cutting mat. Check Search Registration Mark, then Cut.

So, sometimes, it will make a noise and I can see the cutting thing going back and forth only a few inches, and it'll say "Auto registration mark reading is failed." One time out of fifteen, the feed roller will automatically feed it up a little more, then the cutter seems to "read" the top two marks, then it'll move back to the top right mark, make a horrible grinding-type noise, then I get the fail message again.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated...

thats a simple one,. though took me a little while to figure ouyt in the beginng, move your carrier sheet a tad to the right, if you look on the feed surface theres 2 shorter lines, just move your carrier a tad to the right of the outside one, it should help a lot,.. after a while it became second nature to me, lining it up

@ carlino - Where does it say that? I bought mine off craigslist, and it only came with the Robo, cables, blade caps, and software CD.

Generally a CraftRobo is around $200. I snagged one (minus a carrier sheet and owner's manual) off craigslist for $75. I think the "worth it" really depends. If you can get one for as low as I did or lower, I say it's worth it to build a full suit. Personally, I wouldn't pay $200 just to make one suit. I would make multiple suits, or offer to cut files for people, or do something to raise a little money if I ended up buying one for that much.

Bottom Line: Wait to get one cheap off of craigslist (Go to Google, search Craft Robo site:craigslist.org). I searched for about a month until I found cheap ones. Even then, I petitioned around 10 listings before I finally got someone who would mail it to me.

u can also just manually search like i do. unclick search reg marks. then use keyboard (or not if u dont like it) then put the cutting tip inside the top right alignment bracket and then click reg mark reading. it should align and then u click cut and yes if it ask to override. hope this helps

thanks man, i searched near atlanta for craftrobo and nothing but who knows. man thats a steal! i really want one of those and in the end i think i would make more suits due to the ease of having that! well good luck man, hope i can find one

@ JangoFett - I tried doing that already, with no results. Thanks anyway for your input.

@LandonFoster - I searched the whole site, not just my area for a CraftRobo. I found many more listings that way, and I replied to them all until finally someone was willing to mail it to me. Just go to Google and type in craigslist. The first site that pops up, type Craft Robo next to the button that says "Search craigslist.org" and then click that button. CAUTION: Many of the listings may be expired, or have the dog that says page not found. If this is the case, move on to the next listing. I can almost guarantee 90% of the listings will be like this. Just be patient, don't give up hope, and search again every so often (1-2 times per week).

EDIT: So I bought replacement carrier sheets. I tried cutting again and still there are problems. I'm convinced that there is something wrong with the motors or whatever controls the "feed bar". It turns fine when I manually twist the knob, but otherwise it doesn't turn on it's own.

Congrats man! Mine's pretty much broken... I don't know what I'll do with it...

EDIT: I found a Quickutz Silhouette SD, made by Graphtec, which is the same company that makes Craft Robo. Does anyone know if the Pepakura Designer for Craft Robo program will work with the Silhouette?

EDIT2: Wow, by doing what everyone should do first, using the search bar and reading Stickys. I found my answer. It is compatible. Still, does anyone have experience with this machine? If so, I'd like to hear about it.

Sorry for the double post.

Ok, I got a Graphtec/Quickutz Silhouette SD. I tried doing everything exactly as I would have for the Craft Robo. I'm using the papers I printed out a couple of months ago with the registration marks. I tried cutting with the Silhouette and now the pep vier is saying it can't read the registration marks. The reg marks box in the 'Cut Developments' window is blocked out, so I can't change anything. I've moved the blade so it's in the first little reg mark box and it still can't read the marks.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I found out you have to cover up the black L-shaped lines on the carrier sheet with the cardstock. Then it can read the registration marks and cut.
