thx i removed some recent programs hopefully it speeds things up

Google "crap cleaner" also. Will get rid of lots of temporary files. With that, ad adware, and AVG, should solve most of the problem.

CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) and Avast! will clean all your computer.

Also do a Registry check with CCleaner.

Everyone has offered excellent advice. I'd like to add that Spybot Search and Destroy is pretty good at cleaning up ad/spyware and it's free.
