infinite mkv foam build

heya! i just finished the boots yesterday, but since the weather isn't gonna let me plastidip them anytime soon, i figured i would work on the mirage suit i'm building for a friend! lil bit of a time crunch though, only two months before the con. yikes! in the meantime, check out some progress pictures of the boots!

all that's left is to put padding in the thighs, paint these, and mount the abdomen plate! but i'm gonna shift my focus to the mirage for now. i'll edit this post to have a link to the build thread here once i make it. i hope i get this done in time : T

Boots look nice! Good luck finishing everything in the next two months! I believe in you!

hey! i got some nice dark washing done recently, making the suit look nice and grungy. also put a clear coat on a few pieces but i dont have pictures of that yet. enjoy some photos of the dark washed pieces! :]

next up is to weather the ab plate and finish painting the boots! super excited for this to be finished ^.^

and after almost four months (may be wrong, i'm too lazy to check) the suit is finally finished! there are some adjustments to be made just to make everything look and feel better, but the suit is finished!!

it has lights, fans in the helmet, and a pattern on the sole. although as you can see in the last picture, the lights have a tendency to de-sync and change colors. made apparent by my 'lightish red' chest light :, )

for anyone in the area, i'm taking this suit to the Denver FanXpo, and the Casper Comic Con!

it's been a blast making this suit and i'm super happy with how it turned out! can't wait to show it off at events ^^

That all looks awesome!! Only critique is that the helmet could be just a little smaller to make it proportional to the rest of the body. But Id get not wanting to reprint, paint, and work on another helmet just to make it a tad smaller given how it is a pretty helmet

i also have a really big head so it would be a pain trying to get the fans inside and stuff with it being smaller

got a bit of an update here, swapped to better gloves and added the iconic pouches in the front (though i don't have good photos of them lol)

new update!!

i'm probably gonna keep adding updates to this thread as i continue to upgrade and improve my suit, so stay tuned!

i've constructed a new chest piece for my mkv and honestly i think it's my best foam work to date! i tried a lot of new things here, and im really happy with how it turned out! i'll have some pictures here

i should mention, i only wanted to make a new chest because my current one sits about 4-5 inches off my actual chest, and it makes it hard to look down in the suit. it was also quite uncomfortable, causing back shoulder and neck pain when wearing it for long periods of time.

i figured out this is because there isn't a back piece actually touching and supporting my back, it's just empty space. so when i wear it it kind of makes me hunch a bit and that causes pain

the new chest compared to the old one.

you can see the back support piece i added to the inside here

new chest painted! i used rub n buff for the silver parts instead of silver paint, and i like how it looks much better

fully weathered and light covers inserted!

all it needs now is a clear coat and i can start adding straps! i tried something new with this project, i sanded all the seams before plastidipping. i think it turned out really good, super clean seams and edges!

super happy with this, i'll update with pictures once it's finished! ^~^
