Guys honestly....way to make mountains out of molehills. I bought my xbox with halo WAY back on release, and I'm not offended at all by this. The entire game's media outlet is based on satirical events. I hope GTA was mocking halo and their fanbase. I have seen their fanbase change from great players on xbc/gamespy to snotty kids on xbox live. Even if I am lumped into that group I don't need to be so sensitive as to take offense to it. I can accept it for what it is....a joke.

Now if it has to do with the soldiers who defend our country, theres not much to say. The game creators clearly have an anti war sentiment (which is understandable in a polarized topic such as this). I don't know that I see it the video as attacking the soldiers as much as attacking the war effort in it's entirety. Someone like me for instance FULLY supports our troops, but I do not support the current war we're engaged in. That's how I read the video anyhow.

In short though, there are TONS of fake news casts and media sources in GTA4. All comedic, and probably intended to be just that.

I support our troops (canada) which is why Im even wearing a wristband that says "support our troops" as I type this.It's the gov't that makes the decisions,not the soldiers.They dont decide to go to afghanastan or in your case Iraq this almost makes it look like they all go "Im bored, all in favor of invading a country?' and then jump in guns'a blazing. they go because they are told to, with the intent to make things better and to help protect others the best they can

There is nothing in this world that I love more than Halo (I dont get out offen, lol), but that vid was just ....dumb, it didnt make me feel like Halo or I (and all Halo fans) were being attacked. Like said before its more a mockery on the military/government side of things.

Pretty similar logo and character designs huh? They just Haloed up the armor a bit and took some shots at the military but the self satisfied redneck stuff is definitely from above or they could be pulling it from Starcraft.

And as for Halo cartoon parodies (not flash). Nothing beats the old Megas episode.

That kid is just trying to copy and paste the blame for his stupidity, onto something else. He's thinking if he gets Take2 in trouble, he'll get away clean.

I will, but it the last post I will address in this topic. I just got done saying that I didn't want to start a fight with anyone here, and still you put it back into my court. Fine, but this is the last time I'll get dragged into a debate about this with you.

The entire thing is the insult, the entire thing is mocking Halo. Putting dumb ignorant racist indescriminately violent redneck characters in Halo like armor and enviroments in your videogame is a conscious decision that the developers made to characterize Halo players as such . The very fact that people are recognising the staggering similarities between these characters costumes and Halo armor means that the developers purposefully did this. That is where they went wrong. Charaterizations of the military aside I would have no problem whatsoever with the segment if it didn't look like Halo.. well, other than it being horrible lowbrow humor. But the fact that is does personally insults me, as a fan of Halo.

Emulating the disctinct likeness of a character then having that character perform crude or otherwise repugnant acts is a staple of contemporary satire. The analogy of these characters and the Halo franchise is a comentary.

In other words they don't have to say 'Halo sucks' because they are showing you their satirical version of it. The commentary is the work itself, not the words coming out of their mouths.

Thats all I'm going to say about it. If you don't understand, thats fine with me.

I think the purpose of this was to really take a jab at gamer's really, on top of mocking the US military. They are obviously making a direct connection between people who are military and the implication of Halo, together. I think that they are implying that the military/ conservatives/republicans (politically) are just ignorant morons who go about causiing destruction and death. With that, they are mocking those who play halo, by directly associating those who play halo, are the same as these ignorant morons.

So I feel that its disrespecting both the US, the military and those who play halo, by tying the two together..Either way, it pisses me off. Screw GTA4, never liked the games to begin with

EVERYTHING ELSE about the video was a rip on REPUBLICANS, not the military. Which happens to currently be under Republican custody.
You could say that Halo was ONLY used as a vehicle to get the point across.

Besides, this is the worst of the humor. I've played GTA III It's best jokes are 300 times funnier than this.

Republican Custody? Last I checked thats not how the US Government works , we do have a thing called Congress and the Senate. Any ways the thing that pissed me off is the fact that the game its self is one of the most violent games I have ever played.
