well, technically, the master Chief was never on during the initial battle. so his only Kameo appearence would most-likely be him talknig on th radio saying something like, "hey guys. what's up? -just on this sattelite orbiting the planet... so uh... ya. gotta go and kill some covies... bye."

You might be able to play with him fighting by your side. In the book MC has been deployed on Reach to destroy the nav database to prevent the Covenant from finding earth and other inner colonies. They might progress the story to that point since that was the final battle ever fought on Reach since it was destroyed almost immediately after the MC docked back into the Pillar of Autumn. Since all of the spartan's in Noble are probably going to die they might even be deployed to the ground team with kelly and the others instead of the space op with MC linda and james.

I've watched most of the campaign, and no such thing happens. noble team is not only army but they're spartan IIIs. there are maybe 2 spartan IIs (jorge and kurt) that know about them until the halo and onyx events. this is also a big loop hole or goof up on bungie. Dr. Halsey doesn't find out about the spartan IIIs until after the halo event (in the books) but in the game she clearly knows all about them.
also in the last mission of reach the Pillar of Autumn is leaving the dry dock and going off to halo. how can you play with the chief if your dead before he even destroys the data? (chief is deployed from the Autumn)

it was just a suggestion, since i really haven't looked to far into reach because i want some of it to be a surprise. plus the autumn was out in space before the covenant even got to reach and didn't ever dock back in when the ground fighting and nav core op were launched. You wouldn't be dead because reach would just have started to become under attack. So unless all of the spartan 3's and all those associated with them die before the battle of reach even starts then you could definately have the possibility to fight alongside the chief or kelly and the ground team.

yeah thats why it could have been possible that Noble team could have been with them. they could have met up with Noble at some point on the ground op, and since All hands were lost on the ground mission, they could have died with them.
is it possible that john goes on planet to do a mission, then goes to the oribitals and we play along side him there, and then of course ...he leaves and then we still are fighting before our own demise.

Dude, the half frigate is from halo 3, this is Halo: Reach, it takes place right before Halo 1. So no it wasn't that half frigate with chief inside maybe another frigate got blown out of space.

the Autumn was never on the planet, it was heading back from a test run when the defication hit the ocelator. then it took a quick orbit around the planet to drop the spartans off. Master chief, James and Linda were on a sattlite going to destroy an AI that couldn't self-terminate, while Kelly and the others went to the surface. Chief was never there, neither was the Autumn.
