Merry Christmas Canadian Regiment!

I hope you are all looking forward to the holidays and settling down to have some fun with your friends and family. Since it’s the season for thankfulness and joy, I want to look back on all the stuff we’ve been able to do as a regiment this year! I’ll give a quick recap of the year and say a few words as I close out my first year as your Regiment Commanding Officer.

2025 Events Recap

We started off the con season in July with Bruce County Comic Con. A smaller con, but it was just right to get our bearings and get started doing events again. With tremendous support from the Midwest folks letting us borrow their backdrop and signs we were able to put on a very successful booth and introduce the folks of Southampton to Halo cosplay! Of course, it couldn’t have been done without MasterBlaster and celmor1785 who made sure the weekend was the ultimate success.

From there we were able to amp it up and get ready for our big event – Fan Expo Canada in Toronto. This event makes me remember how great it is to be part of a world wide community, not just local. It took tremendous support from all you in the greater Toronto area as well as so many fine folks who flew in and drove a great distance to support this outreach event! Because of your hard work, we had a wonderful booth at a 135,000-atendee convention!

As if there wasn’t enough excitement going on in the city that weekend, you guy were also willing to sacrifice sleep to get into the city before the crack of dawn to do a photoshoot in downtown Toronto! Well worth it in my opinion, because these photos are super sick!

But besides all the people we were able to show out cosplays too, the best part of all this was getting to hang out with you guys! There’s just something so fun about hanging out in Hao cosplay with a bunch of lil goobers and just bopping around the city. You are all so much fun to be with. I’m looking forward to the next time I get to see you all!

I also want to thank all our new recruits who joined us for the first time this year, or those who joined us because you spotted us at some of these events. I extend an extra warm welcome to all of you. We’re all looking forward to seeing what you cook up, and I hope to be able to share some fun experiences with you in the new year!

Events to look forward to for next year

Both of these convention appearances went so well, the organizers told me in person at the events that they would be delighted to have us back again next year! Looks forward to seeing official details come out as the formal applications are submitted.

On top of that, you may have noticed that there are two other threads open for 2026 already! First, we’re looking at doing a meet up at Toronto Comic Con in March! Second, I’m hoping to get out to Calgary Expo in April to visit some of you Alberta-ian 405th-ers! I’ll be counting the days and saving my pennies until I see you out there!

Additional meet-ups and events are in the works too! As soon as things look like they will come to fruition, you can expect me to post about ‘em right away to get you all involved.

If you would like to suggest a project, event, or booth, don’t hesitate to get a conversation going with me! My forum DM’s are always open and I’m always happy to chat about that sort of thing.

Regiment Health and Membership

I say with certainty, the regiment is in better health today than when I received command. The regiment well exceeds the minimum requirements to exist outlined in the mantle and therefore will continuing operating as a regiment of the 405th Infantry Division. I have lots of valuable information I want to share with all members of the Canadian Regiment. To see this information about membership, staff, and other business items, please check the Regiment-Members-Only section of the forum: Business Items - December 2025

Finale

Thank you for allowing me to lead you all this year. It’s been a truly rewarding experience. I’m very optimistic about the future of the Canadian Regiment and I’m looking forward to doing even more with you all next year.

One last thing, particularly to those who are not formally in the Canadian Reside but reside in Canada: please continue making an effort to get your 50 posts in. Once you account is 90 days old and has made 50 constructive posts you can formally join the Canadian Regiment. This is important for two main reasons:

First, it gets you in the habit of interacting with fellow members on the forums and makes you more aware of the things other people and regiments are up to. This is super valuable for help on your projects, getting inspiration for future projects, getting inspiration for future booth appearances, and helping other 405th members on projects.

Second, formally joining the regiment permits you to vote in elections. We have a staff election coming up in January of 2026. If you have thoughts about how the regiment was run, either positive or negative, the biggest voice you have for change is in who you vote to lead you. RCOs not only organize events within their regiment, but they also are members in the Mantle Review Committee and vote on the changes you submit to the mantle. Who you vote for RCO affects how events are run and what changes are approved to the Mantle. But you cannot vote if you are not a formal member of the regiment. Your participation truly matters!

Thank you all for reading and participating in events and in the regiment activities! Thank you again to everyone who made this year awesome! See you all again soon and happy holidays!
