For the last few months I've been VERY slowly working on different pep helmets, making sure that I can get the best quality skills in Pep folding/gluing I could get, so I think that this one is the final model:

I plan on resining it, but I'm going to practice with the resin and bondo with my old helms for about the next month, so an update isn't coming soon

You need to upload your pics on websites like photobucket or imageshack in order for the rest of us to see them.

UPDATE

I after all this time my mother stopped procrastinating and picked up the respirator. I was planning on jumping right in with my handplate. But then reason sunk in. "Is this stuff easy to work with?"

"Am I too inexperienced that it will just glob around?"

"Will this prove to be too difficult and I'll just ruin my perfectly made handplate?" etc. etc. etc.

So I dug around in my pile of Fails to find my old handplate that was too big and warped horribly. I figured it would be an adequate test subject. So I went downstairs (Really hot and humid outside) Went to the corner with 3 windows and opened them up for ventilation. And tried out one layer...

Turns out it was a lot easier than I expected. I managed to keep all the little details and kept a nice coat on it. But don't take my word for it, let's see what you think:

A nice little close up of how the details didn't get smoothed over.

looks great. good job. the more you work with fiberglass and resin the better you get at it. one note i have for you is when you start to lay fg, put a layer of resin 1st then place the fg over the resin and then out a little more on top of the fg and tap/press/paint on.

good luck!!

maybe make a video tutorial on that for the video section

Looking good! Keep it up! Post some pics of fibreglassing soon!

BTW: dont fibreglass your handpiece, just fibreglass bigger pieces because the handpiece is least likely to get fallen on and is a waste (idk but ppl on other threads say) apparently just a few licks of resin will do fine!

that looks awsome . how much hardner are you using in ratio to the resin?
I put in 15 drops of hardener for every oz. of resin.

But you resin can may say different. I would read the back to find what they recommend.

SparTom007: No fiberglass you say? I might go that route and if there's any left over, I'll just pop it in.

well i recommend pouring enought resin in so it fills up the detail then just put a layer of glass on

I think I'm going to go with Crackhead's method, mainly becuae I'm doing more than walk around with the armor.

While I'm waiting for the resin to cure, I think I should treat you to some of my "Waiting" projects.

Yes, I wait A LOT.

Actually my first time sculpting.

UPDATE TIEM!

I got the real handplate resined. The one that actually fits my hand and isn't horribly warped.

A little nervous about this one. It was a lot smaller than the test plate. But it was all good. ;)

DSC02047.jpg

Still got all the detail.
DSC02048.jpg

I also got ol' Benny out to test how fiberglass manages. It was as easy as the resin. So full steam ahead!

I never thought one layer of resin and half of it fiberglassed would make it so hard. This thing is rock hard.

MORE UPDATES

So I got the real handplate fiberglassed. A little too much resin, in my opinion, but I had some left over. So, better not waste any. ;)

I also got my bicep piece resined, a little difficult to find a place to let it cure, but it was all good.

DSC02051.jpg

One thing that I found out, that helped me a lot was a way to save resin. Instead of just pouring an estimated amount, I poured some in a bunch of little containers. But the catch is I only but in the hardener when I move on to the next container, that way I won't have too much in one container before it starts to harden. This is because it stays nice and liquidy before I put the hardener in.

UPDATE

So I've been working non-stop on this armor of mine, mostly playing around with bondo to get a feel for it. I've got a pretty good feel for it now and got around to priming my Hand-plate and Bicep. I also finished a forearm build about 10 minutes ago. But you don't care about all this, you care about pics!

Right arm in all it's appendage glory.

I've also got another hand-plate at the same stage as the other, but I figured you don't want pics of 2 exact same things.
