Hello everyone!
This is my very first cosplay project, and honestly, I’m not really a crafty or handy person. But as a lifelong Halo fan, I thought—what better choice than the Master Chief himself? I wanted something ambitious, something that would really pay tribute to my childhood hero. After hundreds of hours of work, I’m proud to finally share the results.
Last weekend, I wore the armor to my very first convention here in my hometown in France. The experience was incredible, and I’m more than satisfied with how it turned out.
I owe a huge thanks to MoeSizzlac and to all of you in this community—your guides, resources, and advice made all the difference. Without them, I’d probably still be stuck figuring out how to finish my first boot!
First Con Tricks
Since it was my first convention, I realized pretty quickly: where do you even keep your keys and coins when you’re in full Spartan armor with no pockets?
My solution: I modified a prop frag grenade with a screw-cap system inside. It became my hidden storage compartment for small essentials—practical and still lore-friendly!
Next Steps & Improvements
Of course, a first build always comes with room for upgrades:
- Mobility: the thigh/knee attachment is restricting leg flexion a lot during long walks, so I’ll be redesigning that.
- Arm pieces: my biceps armor tends to slip down. Either I start hitting the gym for real () or I work out a stronger attachment system, since magnets under the undersuit aren’t enough during a full day of movement.
- Weapons & gear: I’m working on a proper back attachment for the assault rifle. Next, I plan to add a sidearm (magnum with magnetic holster on the right thigh) and—yes—the iconic energy sword. That will mean diving into electronics, which will be a whole new adventure !
It’s been a dream come true to walk around as the Chief at last, and I can’t wait to improve this armor even further.
Thank you all again for the support, and I look forward to sharing more progress with this amazing community.
