Ive been working on my M6D pistol from link for a few days, just using spot putty, a little bit of sanding and a few coats of primer later and it was ready to paint!
I use Chaos black spray paint for the base (from citadel miniatures) after a few thin coats of primer.
Then i used a aluminum color spray paint for the base of the silver parts, when that was dry i used the new citadel washes to ink the whole thing, when that was dry i dry brushed over it with Mithril silver, also from the citadel range. i used chaos black to clean up the silver that had gone onto the handle.
I need to find a mat sealer of some kind, but it holds the paint pretty well as it is. Im pretty happy how it came out, now i want to order one of Links M6G's.
Enough talk, now pics!

Very nice paint job. I might have to check out the Citadel washes, thanks for the info. Testors has a very good flat clear finish (might be called figure flat) that I have used for years. Its usually in the model car spray can section.

Thanks for that, ill be going down to the local hobby store later today, ill have to see what they've got.

Just something for those thinking about using citadel paints: although the pistol isn't warhammer, i have been painting miniatures for about 5 years, so even though this is pretty simple for me to do, don't expect it to be easy for someone who hasn't done a lot of painting. If you can master washing and dry brushing, you will have a very firm grip on miniature painting. But I'm sure theres plenty of people up to the challenge.
Oh, you're also never completely happy with your work (i only have 1 miniature i am 100% satisfied with) I will be re-doing the handle in the next few days.
Wow... that was a rant.....

I agree with you on the never being satisfied with paint jobs. I have been painting for years and there is always something that I fell I could have made better. Thats why repainting happens alot, but I also think it helps your /our skill levels increase. There are some times when it all come together and is just right.
I also think most people are more critical about their own work than others are. Keep up the good work..

I agree. I just painted parts of my suit and I still feel like it is not complete.

Where do you find Warhammer paints at?

you can order them online from games-workshop (they make em).

anywhere that stocks warhammer will have, or be able to get citadel paint. Or you could try your local hobby store.

The pistol looks really good :D Good to see you got some of the new inks, I picked a couple up over the weekend (Badab and Devlan) for some of my BSG stuff... they're awesome :)

What I usually do (and I meant to reply to your PM the other day but got distracted :rolleyes ) is mist on the Purity seal with the blue cap from a distance, it gives a pretty flat finish. I used to get the stuff with the black cap but they don't sell that anymore, which isn't so bad because that stuff stunk like burning plastic.
I used it on the blaster in the pic below:

the blaster did have a super high gloss finish on it before the purity seal so you can see it works pretty well :)

Thanks, ill have to try that.
I went down to the local hobby store yesterday and they had some mat "topcoat" which worked really well! I also did a few little Grey highlights on the grip, not really noticeable, but i had my paints out and i was board...
