well he's near completion just need to tidy up some errant verts,.. later I'll post a promo of what I'll look like built w/ the hoses Im leaving them out of the pdo for simplicity sake

well here's some further work on my Tech Marine Helm,.. there will be some Hoses and stuff but I didnt model them for the pep ready file since it'd be easier to

just real ones, and the lenses also will not be pepped (at least by me) I just have them there as reference

I'm not a great unfolder like Nintendude, but I'll give it a go, in the Emperor's name



Edit: I tried unfolding your model and immediately found a few problems.

1. There's a texture in the file, but that's easy enough to remove in Pepakura

2. The sides of the 'track' for the eyepiece (I'll get a pic and upload it if you need me to) have extra unneccessary edges that make the pep harder

3. The eye/nose area also has alot of extra edges which could be smoothed

4. In between the eyes, the browline of the helmet actually comes to a point. Lots of tiny edges there that will cause a problem when it comes to pepping time



But all in all it's a damn good model. I think I'll borrow that sight/eyepiece and do a scratchbuild to attach it to a helmet it's that nice. A+ job
 
yeah I knew as far a poly's went there was an area I just got tired and needed to refine,.

where the curve of the fron meets the angular sides of the eyepiece

and as for texture I didnt even think about the blank textures,.. but as you said thats easy,.. just turn off texture in pep done,..

yeah get me a specific picture of which area your referring too for #2,.. wasnt sure how pep handles certain sections that are covered if it merges them or whatnot

yeah it does come to a point,.. but I was thinking w/ some judicious unfolding it could be done as several planes instead of crazy tiny piece,.. but that remains to be seen

as for the Optics and Tertiary Optics Glad you like them, this is my 2nd model for pep so far

Best views I could find of what I was talking about. What should be a one piece surface (because it's flat) has this line running along it which cuts the flat surface into multiple pieces when you unfold it. If you can't find the line look just above the red line in the both pictures

That happens when you have more than two planes connecting to a single edge. Like this: Y

Space Marines!... ITs all about the Imperial Guard LOL jk :D (don't worry I have some love for the Space Marines in 40K)

Well I'm no 3D modeller so I wasn't sure of the cause, but it was playing havoc with the unfold

yeah I know the problem... that came from how parts were assembled in stages and merged together,.. I'll pop off that double wall,..anything else a major problem?
 
well Im currently unfolding some shins and boots for my Space Marine,.. assembling my Chest unit now that its all cut out (gawd I'm sooo tempted to get a CraftROBO) and I also still need to go and do some more tweaking on the helm,..oh yeah during a 14credit hour semester :)
