Ok with all the ODST projects going on I decided to throw my spin on it. I as usual will be working from the concept renders with a little of my own ideas thrown in. I sat down with the master of weapons mr LeeKegan on skype tonight. And watching him work on a project got me itching to do some more on one of my shelved ideas a concept desert ODST. I know there is a member doing the same theme but it is a helluva idea and I already have the BDUs and MOLLE vest in those colors. I started with a cheap but sturdy swat style boot from wally world $29 for steel toe high top boot is cheap enuff for almost anyone.

I then stuffed the heck out of it with packing paper to help it keep its form.

And added a pvc support/handle.

And since this will be the boots Im using I protected them from the sculpting casting process with foil and painters tape.

Next I started with a even coat of clay and started building the detail up from there.

Since the concept art really dosent show a good view of the back plate and the toe seemed to heavy looking I added a little mk VI look to the back.

And here is the finished V1 boot with primer waiting for final smoothing, then its going under rebound tomorrow to cast the new master.

I had to throw in a little Privateer Studios touch lol.

Ok...I want those! Those MK VI-style details make it look badass!

Great work as always Privateer!!

Can't wait to see what you add to the desert-style ODST!

Incredible work! what kind of clay did you use? and is it soft? medium or hard? (i'm guessing soft)

I always use the Van Aiken clay from hobby lobby its cheap and easy to work with. What I have is soft but I use heat and cold to work it hot to sculpt and freezer to smooth.

That is some awsome work. Been working with clay myself to make the smg molds and i want to take the next step into crafting/molding something entirely built of clay.

Your boot is inspiring....

Dont know yet I plan on working from the ground up on this project so it might take a while for me to release it if I do. I have some ODST pieces coming my way so as soon as I get them I will be deciding what all I will work on.

Again great work. It was amazing watching you claying up that boot last night while we talked on Skype.

Who is the master? I think it is you.

Love the work! Can't wait to see what else you come up with, this is going to be fun to watch! Oh, and if Lee says you are the master, well, I think that says more than anything else that can possibly be said! Chapeau!

Inspiring, to say the least. I'm getting stuck and losing motivation on my project and it's inspiring to see something new! Great work!

Thanks for the compliments! I have the mould for them complete and hope to pull the first cast tonight. And another small surprise for yall when I get home to post the pics.

Ok I started looking at the vid on youtube and got to thinking, I need a pack for my gear and small consumables lol. I started with some really heavy matboard and really no diminsions to speak of so like most of my projects this has my own spin on it. After creating the basic shape of the lid and top half I started with floral foam building the side pouches.

Then with more floral foam I blocked in the bottom and built up the details.

I sealed it last night with MOD POGE a waterbased sealer and sanding finish and another coat on it this afternoon. From what Ive seen the sealer will soak into the foam quite abit and even after a single coat it was hard to damage it with normal handling. But for the filler, painting and casting stage I will add several coats to make shure it solid. This should attach to the back section of my ODST armor and has a hinged working lid and latch. I just need to get it all sanded smooth and rework the lid with foam before I add the last details.

Cheers!

Well update time I sealed the entire pack and ditched the lid entirely. I started the lid this time with a matboard base then used foam for the top. then for a experiment I tried fiberglass cloth and instead of using resin I used the acrylic sealer just to see if there is a cheap indooor friendly way to glass something. It worked very well and set hard enuff to sand and hold filler which should be done this week weather permitting. on to the pics
