The stickies are your friend, and they will never leave you (they have no legs). The answer to your question:

NEVER FIBERGLASS THE OUTSIDE, as it will ruin the detail of your piece. Always fiberglass the inside.

To the mods and everyone else:

I think it would be a great benefit to the community - in particular the noobs - to incorporate a Tutorial section into the forums. I've heard this brought up at least once, and think it would be a fantastic idea. It would help to remove the growing, and perhaps overwhelming, number of stickies in each section as well as provide noobs with a much easier way of locating the answers to their questions. For those of us who have been around for a while, the threads and stickies are fairly easy to navigate. But I can see how for some new members, this could be just overwhelming enough to cause them to think that making a thread asking the question would be easier than trying to navigate what looks like a labyrinth of topics and stickies to them.

i agreed with the latter half of this post. having been here for about a year i'm still finding it hard to find the stickies and tuts that i need, and having all the stickies and tuts consolidated into one glorious section all to their own would be a great help, and as NAGA said, it would be a HELL of a lot less daunting for the noob... i feel at least :)
