Holy crap... this is rediculous. Not the idea behind the petition, per say, but everyone's reactions to this. Sorry for sounding like a bit of an @$$ there, but seriously... I think everyone (with the exception of a select few) is getting a little bent out of shape here.

For crying out loud, fellas... if everyone took a real good look at this, you'd realize he's not exactly doing it for his own benefit.

Yes, CH13F would be the one actually getting the RECON armour, but his intent with it would be to provide the sorts of graphics other members here want to have in thier custom profile sigs.

He's attempting this to provide better services to the community. What the hell's wrong with that?

This is really no different than what others do to try and contribute to the community in some way. I've never seen a member get berated like this for offering up new Pep files, armour logos/decals or some other sort of graphics work.

And don't try to tell me this isn't the same thing as that. It is. Everyone here contributes in thier own way, in many different ways. This is just his way of contributing. Give the guy a bloody break.

Like KoreKiller said, if he wants to do this, then damn well let him do it.

Why's everyone suddenly got to get on his case about this? In the grand scheme of things, it's so trivial there's no point in arguing over it.

On the other hand, given the established guidelines for people to actually obtain the RECON armour from Bungie, a simple petition of this sort may not work.

Still, there's no reason he can't try (if it doesn't work, so be it, but at least he'll have given it a shot), and there's no reason why everyone should be busting his chops for it...

Yes, but his chances are still slim of getting Recon armor. All he has to do is search Google to find pics of it. He is just trying to use this as a way to get Recon, he probably doesn't care about the people signing, as long as he gets his hands on Recon, seriously, think about it, the internet contains billions of pictures. I see it as he is just using all the people who signed it to get Recon armor for HIMSELF, not for others signatures...

Sorry if I am wrong, but seriously, this is just my take on the whole situation... if I was having a petition, if someone went against it, I would respect their opinion to hopefully get them to change their minds, but CH13F is just flaming everyone who says it won't happen (these people are right, by the way). Again, this is just my take on it as I watch from the shadows...

I agree that theres nothing wrong with trying, I'm just trying to suggest ways to go about doing it that might prove more successful. I'd love for CrazyChief to get Recon, so much so that I made suggestions for the best tactics to achieve it. The last thing I would want to see happen is for him to get himself ruled out due to approaching it in a way that Bungie is telling us NOT to do.

Last night, in the Bungie Weekly Update Sketch Factor had this to say about getting Recon:

On the ligher side, we do give out Recon for good deeds, awesome film and film clips and map variants. It’s not all doom and gloom over here. It’s just easier to point out what won’t get you Recon, rather than what will. To be clear, the following:

Asking a Bungie Employee over XBL or Bungie.Net
Asking on the forums
Asking AT ALL
Repeating exactly or closely what previous people have done to get Recon
Lying
Cheating
Complimenting my figure
…Will NOT get you Recon. They will, however, earn you varying levels of ire, and two of those (Lying and Cheating) will get you on The List. And now that you know about The List, perhaps you should rethink your Recon strategy if you’ve been going about it the wrong way.

Compare that with my recommendations.

You know, at first, when I looked at this thread, I was like, eh, idk, i'd rather try to keep recon exclusive to big names in the halo world, but every time I read it, I get more and more fired up in your favor.

Even though it may not work, I encourage you to definitly try. What's the worst that could happen?

I hope you get the armor, and I give you props for having the balls to try.

It's not for you anyways, It's for your work.

Try doing more and more to add onto your work, and the more bungie sees, the better of a chance you will have.

well...the recon can easily be made in all different colors using the armor perm maker..I personally dont have the link but some people on here use it for their avatars...it ends up looking like this

you could easily photoshop out the background...sorry I just dont think it is a viable reason to get recon
really, digital ph33r entertains thousands of people where as your just making signatures for our small little communtiy of a mere hundreds...

the problem with the armour perm maker thing is that it churns out the same pose every time. i don't want that for people who request signatures they want their individual pose be it assasinating someone one or over a nice background. also trying to get the permutation with only a handful of people who actually have recon is difficult. This doesn't benefit me at all i won't wear this armour i like what i have now, recon is for people who are higher up in the celebrity hierachy e.g Digtalph33r. thats the reason why i wouldn't wear it, no one knows me at all so i would get the reaction (if i had it) "WTF why did they give it to you" i don't want that all i want is to please the community with the signatures i make. period! but since i won't get it now for some one kindly explaining, post suggestions of what things you can do to make bungie laugh or get a good map variant and who ever does post do it them selves and if they get the armour i will ave the pleasure of asking you to pose for me i nthe colour and perm utations i need, okai? allright =].

P.S. i like flaming myself it causes great arguements like this which also ended my relationship with my girlfriend. so post your ideas NOWWAAAA (AoBfrost, thats an Arnold Schwarzneger impression incase you didn't guess it).

A petition is technically asking, even though good deeds may come out of the armor.

Who knows how bungie will take it, they may just delete it, or they may consider it.

sounds good =] my friend made a catapult that actually works so i could try and grab the sword as im flung through the air =p easy enough lol just like 100,000,000,000 directions i can be flung in lol.

how about you standing on top of a fusion core(you need an over shield) your friend blows up 2 fusion cores under a mongoose, then your friend blows up the one under you and you try to hop in the vehicle when its in the air. should be done in either foundry or sandtrap or any other spacey map.

sounds good but not good enough, if you had halo 3 which i suggest you do get with a 360 when you ge thte money just experiment around with stuff.
