that is a hell of a way to enter i thought building the odst was a good one

but props to you s-267

And Sean if that stuff turns out to be good i will go in with the bulk order

yay yay yay yay! that bulk order sounds cool! i cant wait till your trial results come in. and for sealing the paper, what i use is this crystal clear spray by krylon. it worked on my SMG. and the fact that it works with muslin cloth is cool too, incase my parents dont want me around fiberglass either. this is soo awsome! great find spartan267! :D :D

I love you Sean!

Bah, okay, I likes you Sean! ^^'

Thanks a lot

And woouhou, Canada distributor!

Little find Aqua-Resin

Item number: 300114639607

Edit : And why am I alone on the chat when there's like 50 members online :'(

Be sure to check on the volumes of that eBay ad... I didn't see it listed anywhere. And $50 sounds pretty steep if thats just a half gallon kit..

as soon as my paycheck from this last freelance gig clears (stupid bank taking longass times to clear large checks) I'll probably be ordering a bit of this to test out on a pep prop weapon i'm working on.

That Sculpt.com place has a lot of really great products on their site as well. Does anyone have any experience ordering from them before? cause they sell quite a few products that I order from other sources right now, for equal or cheaper prices. And I'd love to just consolidate it all to one distributor. for example Magic sculp.. i freakin love this stuff. and they have it for slightly cheaper than Tap plastics sells it for. http://www.sculpt.com/catalog_98/CastingMa...icsculp0001.htm

edit: after we find out about how this stuff handles we should get this thread moved over to the pep section. I'd make ya a bet that there's a lot of people that frequent the pepakura section of the forums, that never ever come to the noob section, who would love to know about this stuff :)

Or someone could do a write up about it over there.. either or :p

I'm going to try and get down to Sculpture COmplete (sculpt.com) today since I'm here in Manhattan. I'll ask them about sealers to see what they can recommend. The armor place sounds like it may be upstate, but I can look it up here. There's so many stinkin places here XD

But wasnt toxic resin always fun? wearing a mask when using it? I thought it was fun, the longer you wait, the longer the fumes dissipated, and when they were gone, you knew it was cured/almost cured.

Then again I guess without the toxic-ness in the resin, it would save money on buying a mask, unless the resin cans are more expensive.

AOB you silly goose XD While I agree it does sound fun (no I'm not being sarcastic) a poor person like me who lives in a big city or is still a youngen at their parents house can't do the toxic fun stuff :( I don't have a "secure" dry, warm place to set this while it cures so I'd risk hurting other people... bummer thing is I own a respirator already hahahaha I bought one for art school XP

On a sidenote, while I didn't coat the inside of my helmet with hot glue, I did do some seaming and re-gluing in some areas of my helmet and it added a lot more sturdiness :D

He's sending me a trial kit to test out so that I can test it out and report the usefulness of this stuff to you guys. When it comes in I'm going to run it through a full battery of tests, casting it, laminating pepakura with it, sanding/drilling it and I will thoroughly document and photograph the whole process for everyone and post it here.

Any chance to try this out yet? I'm very encouraged by Skullcandygirl's results, but I'd like a comparison to the old toxic fiberglass I've worked with in the past.

Hi guys,

I'm new here and was inspired last Halloween to make my own costume. I decided on Halo and started an energy sword which I used Pepakura to make the handle (anyway that's besides the point).

I'm familiar with the resining process (i bought some from Home Depot). I just saw your post about the Aqua Resin and was wondering if anyone knows of a distributor in MA. If you guys were still going to the bulk buy, I would definently be interested.

You guys are all great and thanks for the inspiration. I can't wait for a reply.
Also, one more question...how hard is it to use a mold. I think I may still be confused about the process and may still stick to pepakura for now, but I just wanted to get anyone's opinion on how they did it their first time.

Thanks alot
