Good pepwork so far! I understand about the struggling with the hotglue. I had issues with it too when I started costume building in '09. I pepped MC's boot (forgeting to size it, mind you) and I had the lines to folding backwards and I somehow glued the whole thing inside out! It was a big gluey mess and I had burn marks all over the tips of my fingers.
Let's just say that my learning curve DEFINATELY spiked after that experience... hahah

Good luck on your build!

Pep was not my friend tonight...

Yeah pep wasn't my friend tonight. I wasn't rushing it or being impatient, it just didn't want to do what I wanted....plus I lost a small piece to the helmet attachment :angry and I don't have anymore cardstock at the moment...So I will just chock this up to a practice piece...

The hole in the middle of the bottom piece I had to do on purpose. for some reason, there was a warped area when I enclosed it and I had to cut a tiny hole in it and pull it up. Covered the hole with a thin layer of hot glue...

The stomach piece I did last night but was too tired to finish/upload any pics...(see below text for why I may not finish this piece)

I think I'm going to try a few more pieces with pep, and if I feel like I am not getting the results I want I'm going to experiment with foam. I know I'm going to have to get somewhat decent with pep to do a helmet, but I have been feeling really fumbly with the pep, and I don't know if I am actually doing that great of a job with it to begin with, so please please give me your honest critiques about how they look and what there is I can work on. I'm really 50/50 on it myself....

too bad you couldnt continue good pep so far and I practiced a lot like 5 times even if its epic fail and I think I'm about to make an ODST dutch helmet or HAZOP this friday its nice to see odsts

That stomach piece is the very first thing that I ever tried to pep. I finished the pep out of regular paper to get the hang out of the technique and then I made it out of foam.

yeah, i think foam is where I might be headed. It's a little more....substantial...I'm guessing, to work with...

Well....I have decided to abandon this project, at the moment. Reason is, my wife wants me to build her one, once I get comfortable with it and after I get one for me done, so I figured I will start with a Reach Build of some sort to get used to the Spartan armor (she's wanting something along the lines of Kats armor). I will eventually come back to an ODST. I will make a new thread for the new build after I get some good progress done on the Reach build, hopefully this weekend.

That's too bad you've decided to abandon this. ODST's are bad@$$. If you need any help with reference pics, hit me up.

Thanks, and I might take you up on reference pics soon. I will come back to it...I guess you could say I'm not really "abandoning" it, just putting it on a long hiatus.

On the other hand, you're a lucky guy if your wife is into this stuff too. :p Hope to see more of your work soon!

Sounds like a plan! I'm more than happy to get reference pics for people. Modders are cool like that. :cool
