off the shelf secrets to make your armor look all it can be

Well, what would you guys recommend for pants? Something cheap an not too expensive. I was thinking about using black jeans, but that isnt a very smooth look.

They should work fine, most make the opposite mistake and go for the smoothest and shiniest stuff they can find. The underarmor SHOULD look textured. Maybe even mist some dark grey primer on them to give it a little bit of an aged look.

Sounds good then. At least they are older so they aren't too baggy anymore. The boots should cover up the extra lenght though.

Yes....

The only things that, AFAIK, would really effect them is if you welded them or machined them in some manner. Other than that, there's not much you can do to them normally that would effect their magnetic properties.

I'll toss in some info.

1 - Flight suit from http://www.american-armynavy.com/Fsuit-b.htm

2 - Uber gloves from http://www.elitetacticalsources.com/client...ls.php?pid=3942

3 - Gold Helmet Visor from http://www.newenough.com/browse/view_product_images/117

4 - Mat Board from any local Hobby Lobby

5 - Bondo fiberglass from any local Auto Zone

That's where my big 5 supplies come from, and they've all proven to be worthwhile investments for serious armor making.

Just be prepared to shell out about $120 for all the stuff mentioned above (not factoring in costs for extra mat board or bondo!)

Hey guys! I've been awake for the past 20 hours researching armor making so i can get a costume together for halloween. So please excuse any spelling errors or extreme lack of sense-making.

As my first post i'll try to add a bit of my "guy on a budget" finesse to the thread! ;)

As far as sports equipment, http://www.playitagainsports.com/.
Cheap, used elbow pads, gloves, shin guards, even helmets for visors or for a shell.

Ebay is the best place for LED's but for some of those needle guns and such, http://www.beingseen.com/ sells electroluminescant paper/tape.

http://www.estreetplastics.com/ is a great place for any plexi needs you might have. Ive used them before when making PC mods.

I had some other fun stuff to share with you guys but i forgot what/where it was... If i think of it ill post it lol.

I'm really glad i found this site. It feels like i might actually get a suit made up by the 31st now!

Yeah, its like this -

Unless you have INSANE armor making skills and an army of skilled craftsmen at your disposal, you're not going to make a full suit that is both accurate and archetecturally sound by the 31st. Building something like this takes about a YEAR. I know, because I was planning on having my suit done by this Halloween....because I started working on it last November.

So, don't plan on making this Halloween a Haloween. Not saying its impossible, but stuff as complicated as suitingmaking doesn't happen overnight. Don't want to discourage, just telling you to be prepared to not have a suit THIS year....next year though has a great chance if you start now. Need any advice, PM me and let me know.

What place can I find padding and velcro from?
Please somewhere like a retail store I can go to, I can never trust the Internet >.>

What do you use to keep the straps/velcro on the suit, Ex.Hot Glue?

That store is based in my hometown! Haha, awesome.

This thread rules. So many choices though... I've yet to decide on upper/lower body though, but I guess I've got time!

no he means a pistol belt, should be about 2-2 1/2 inches wide they generally have 2 rows of holes, with either a big clip attachment like a backback or a brass hook and hole depending

It's a laser level that looks like it must have been designed by a fan of Halo. The pictures don't do it justice. It's really bright. The color scheme is nearly perfect. Just take the lettering off with a little Acetone and it's good to go.
Best thing...they were only $4.99 at Radio Shack. Buy 3 and juggle 'em!

hey redsliegh down is right but ur not goin to make it glow and throw at someones face are u? or goin to use it just for looks?
