Plaster Casting

Depends on what you are trying to make. I don't think you want it for armor but anything in latex works great. What are your thoughts?

For armor plaster would work for the mother mold and use latex for making a cast to make casts of the armor the plaster is only to support the cast. Bamabat is right on the fact that plaster is more for latex parts and plaster is also for making head/body casts.

My plan (In effort to save as much money possible) The mold will be made with rebound 25.

I will use urethane plastic, but a very thin layer, then reinforce the inside of the cast with plaster "the plaster is only to support the cast" <<< So looks like my plan is a go

Ah sorry guys, 2 more questions :rolleyes

The completion of my helmet draws near. Would it be possible to get away with with 2-3 sample sizes of rebound 25? and if necessary, use silicone caulk + thi vex to complete the final coat of silicone?

heres a pic to get an idea how big it is (roughly size of a motorcycle helmet)

Last question, Im trying to get hold of polystyrene plastic thats about the thickness of cardstock paper. Mcmastercarr didnt offer anything that thin

hey once again, Thanks for the response guys! I really appreciate the help

Get shell shock (cost about$50 for a gal) brush that in as your beauty coat the layer in fiberglass and that will last alot longer than plaster. Just spend the money to get the gal kit of rebound, if you go cheap on the mould and you will not get the best castings. You gotta spend the time on the mould to get a good product
