REACH: wheres Jun?

Bungie sold the rights to the first 3 Halos to Microsoft, basically giving the Halo franchise away in exchange for freedom. Somewhere in the deal I beleive it was worked out that Bungie could continue to make Halo games after 3 but before 3 belonged to Microsoft. I dont really know the specifics.

so does this mean that Bungie will continue to make the games from here on out or what?

Bungie will not make any more Halo games. They've announced it officially. Reach was their last, any more Halo games will be through Microsoft.

oh $%&*!!!!!! bungie was not involved in halo wars, and look how many storyline discrepancies there were...bleah!! but i would like a conclusion to the MC's story, that would be nice, and i would buy it regardless of bungie's involvement
i just hope if microsoft does make more, they pay attention to the story

I think its like a 300 scenario, where Leonidas makes the wounded guy go back to make sure that everyone hears the story of the 300 Spartans. Similarly, Carter tells Jun to go and A. Guard Halsey, B. Tell the story because I guess he didn't see a need for a sniper on that mission, although I did lol.

Not looking forward to Microsoft led Halo games :(.

I'm hoping in future titles they allow for more realistic combat (i.e. aiming down a sight rail, use of cover, etc.) My one bone to pick with Halo has always been the unrealism in combat. For example, the Spartans were trained soldiers and would never run out into the open in a fight. They would have used cover effectively, regardless of whether they had shields or not. If the next developer stays true to the story and makes some of those changes, I'm in.

jun doesn't survive or go off with halsey, if you watch it again, he goes back into sword base when carter says make sure the covenant don't get their hands on anything. so jun goes back in. you get on the pelican, and then sword base blows up :D happy?

1. They call them SPARTAN III's, because they are the third generation of SPARTANs.

2. There are no more SPARTANs, I read Fall of Reach, and it indirectly, but also distinctly says that they are all gone.
Doctor Halsey made it to CASTLE, but it was glassed over. Since it was many thousands of meters under ground, I am sure they were dug out before Reach was terraformed.

Read FIRST STRIKE. you are wrong.

Jun is in an underground UNSC ONI base called CASTLE Base therefore he survives probably.

i believe this has been established already

again, not necessarily, the last you see of jun is when the camera is facing carter's pelican, doctor halsey goes towards hers, jun wishes carter good luck, then follow's halsey, you never see him go into the base...and about the explosion, have you ever heard of remote explosives? they are quite useful in situations such as these.

you two should go back and read the thread from the beginning, because these two theories have already been suggested, and if you have read it ENTIRELY, my apologies for being facetious

Read between the lines - Carter ordered Jun to escort Halsey because he didn't want HER falling into enemy hands. SHE was the thing that couldn't be allowed to fall into enemy hands - thus the whole "I'll do what's necessary" line. If push came to shove, and capture was unavoidable, Jun would kill Halsey to keep her from falling into Covenant hands. Carter wasn't stupid enough to believe that Jun could defend an entire installation by himself, however he could be counted on to eliminate the single greatest security threat left on Reach - Dr. Halsey...

bungie wanted the unrealistic combat to happen.
since the game takes place 500 YEARS IN THE FUTURE tactics and technology changes. they can bend alot of the rules because of that SOB Moore and his law of technological expansion. we're looking at technology being 3.79427518^81 x faster than present existing tech. which means my coffee maker has 4 trillion to the 81st times more processing power than you 5 gen Iphone.

If anyone has seen the Legendary video on Waypoint, then you should know that they CONFIRMED Jun is alive. They never said where he was though, which kinda sucks. Haven't read the books (yet), but I'm pretty sure he's in CASTLE base. Well, was.

Maybe Bungie means that he survived Reach, but beyond that, he's dead.

He's on the memorial statue, but then again, Halsey was recorded as dead when she realy wasn't.

That's my input.

i think she was recorded as dead because, immediately following reach and the attack on the rebel's asteroid base, she went to Onyx and into the shield world...effectively disappearing

Carter also said that "Casualty logs listed her as KIA" or something like that.

thats because ONI SWORD base....well im not sure if it got glassed or not, it was hard to tell from orbit, but she was in the base, and presumed dead

Which is exactly what I meant. ONI presumed Halsey dead when she really wasn't, thus making me think that Jun on the Legendary Memorial is just another assumption.

Truthfully, this entire thread is a bit of a farce. True forums are there for debating, but personally I am not willing to accept any theory about Jun's demise.

Jun didn't really do a whole lot for me either. He's supposed to be a sniper, yet the only time he fires in my campaign was at those Guta (one shot from him, I had to do the rest) and in the gas pump arena, where you had to defend the area.

while this is very possible and probably what will be made canon.....

.....I'd like to point to you that Halsey was the <<LAST RESORT>> security option for Castle base.

in First Strike she activates the only failsafe for the base that only SHE and top brass know about but only SHE can activate it...which she dutifully does while F-104, kelly, Issac, and Vinh are there with her and they go into the titanium mines under menachite mountain which is also home to the forerunner crystal.
