There is other stuff to use besides smooth on, but I don't think that there is anything similar to smooth on but cheaper. Rondo, mudglassing and fiberglassing are all different alternatives to strengthening your armor. Some people use paper mache but that is ONLY if you are not worried about durability and if you are not allowed to use the toxic products.

OK first off welcome aboard.

Secondly before you start another thread, follow these simple tips:

1. Grab a drink( whatever makes ya happy)

2. Sit Down

3. Start reading Stickies. There's not a lot of them but there is a lot of information in them. If need be take notes.

4. Start using the search function. (Located in the top right of the screen.) You have made several post that have been made multiply time this month already.

5. Then if all else fails. Start a thread asking your question(s).

6. Play nice and enjoy your stay here on the 405th.

Look forward to seeing you progress.

Lonewolf Speaks the truth. There is plenty of info waiting to be shared. HaloGoddess also speaks wise words. Rondo-ing your armor is another way to get the hardness you desire. Post some wip pics. You are bound to get lot's of help in making your armor the best it can be.

this is smooth-on but i found a 'ratio' that keeps it cheap.

shopping list:

1 2 gallon kit of smooth on 320

and the trial kit of the foam it series (4-10 preferably)

if you pour a thin layer (not two thin) of smooth-on 320 inside the piece and then after thats cured mixed about an ounce of foam it and pour that inside your piece.repeat until the inside of the piece is completly covered in foam. it makes the piece really hard if you do it right and only spend about one hundred and thirty dollars

it makes a whole suit if done corectly
