Hey, just have one small question.
I resined my first helmet, and the smell of resin was really strong.
Even after days, weeks, the smell still remained inside.
I was just wondering if there was any way to get rid of/dilute the smell of the resin.

Planning to go out and get some more hardener so I can start fiberglassing my Hayabusa helmet.
Also, any ideas on fiberglassing the crown?

Well I'm going to just state the obvious to a degree.

1.) Do not inhale the Resin fumes while handling it and while it is still drying, The resin itself isn't the worst, its the hardener. Though both are still toxic. Use t3h Respirator
2.) Do not resin inside
3.) DO NOT RESIN INSIDE!
4.) Cut the Fiberglass to precise strips, glue to them place and resin them.

Baby powder.

Helps resin dry faster, takes out the smell.

That doesn't work..You need talk or baby power...or both. Just a little layer on the inside/outside will do the trick, keep it outside for a couple of hours and and the smell will decrease in the next couple of days.

For the fiberglassing of your Hayabusa helmet: Just resin the outside once, fiberglass the inside up until the crown. Let it completely dry, and then to the top part.

I understand what you're saying.
I resined the fiberglass to the inside and let it dry, but days later
the smell of resin was still strong enough to bother me when I put it on.

And thanks Cadet and Falcon.
add some baby powder to the inside as it dries?

of course you resin the inside! you use baby powder if the smell is not going away. also, leaving it outside for a while will do it too.

No problem thats why we are where.

I have to be honest, I have no idea. Its seems logical, baby power are for a wet baby tussie...doesn't it?

yeah, i thought so. Make sure it completely dries, and let it stay outside for at least a day, maybe two, and let the wind get to it.

Oh, okay.
Thanks :)
I guess I'll post pics of my progress here as soon as I get some more hardener and fiberglass cloth.

you need more hardener? how much are you putting in? its about 12 drops per oz (the plastic cap thingy on the can), and that is fairly hot.

@rvb: I ran out of hardener working on my last project and my friend's armor pieces. :p
@Overlord:Stick fiberglass into the spikes and just pour in resin?

whew, i thought you were putting in all that hardener in that little bit....that wouldnt be too good, would it? :p

You can go without putting any fiberglass in the spikes, just the resin will work. I dont know, ask someone who worked on it. If you pour in the resin, it will never completely cure. you can be sure of that.
