Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions, everyone. I might try the muslin on the next one, but for this project I knew how to work mache so I went with it. Plus my wife helped all weekend and will be helping throughout the week, and with mache we can sit on the couch together and work. She's very excited to have a pink spartan helmet of her own...

Your mannequin head...it's winking at me...lol. Nice work dude, lookin sharp and clean. And PS, according to Donut, it's not pink, it's light red

If your not allergic to resin try dipping the newspaper pieces in Resin, trust me it makes the helmet so solid! (you add the resinmache inside your helmet)
