Hello Southern Regiment!
First and foremost, I want to start by saying thank you. Being trusted in the RCO role is something that I take seriously, and I am genuinely grateful for the confidence you have all placed in me. This regiment has always been more than just a roster of names to me. It’s a group of people who build together, support one another, and keep the heart of the 405th alive in a very real way. I show my deepest sincerity in saying thank you to each and every one of you.
I also want to take a second to show some recognition to AugmentedHuman013 . The effort he has put in over the past year is the foundation we are currently standing on. Being in a role of responsibility, even in a hobby group, takes patience, resilience, and a lot of unseen work. What Augmented has given to the Southern Regiment deserves real appreciation. Please take the time to thank him for everything he has done and everything he continues to do for this community!
With that said, I want to start this off by giving a quick “where we are and where we are going” update.
Current
Right now, the Southern Regiment is in an incredibly strong position. We are actively boothing at MegaCon and DreamHack Atlanta, which puts us in front of thousands of people and keeps Halo costuming visible in two major convention spaces. We are also participating in the Dragon Con Parade, one of the most high-visibility ways we get to represent the 405th to the public each year. Alongside that momentum, we now have dedicated wall sets built in both Florida and Georgia giving us the physical infrastructure to present ourselves in a professional and recognizable way. Planning has already begun for a larger booth build and an overall overhaul which will allow us to elevate our presence even further and give members something to be proud to stand behind when we troop. This new booth build will be on display at MegaCon this year! If you haven’t planned to be there yet, you should
Looking ahead
Over the next two years, the goal is to take that momentum and deliberately grow it. Over the coming year, we’ll be expanding into additional conventions across the region by making contact, visiting events, and gauging interest in places we aren’t currently active. At the same time, we’ll be placing a strong emphasis on community growth and engagement so that new members who discover us have a reason to stay, participate, and feel like part of something. As that membership grows, we’ll begin laying the groundwork for expanding the regiment’s structure, including the foundational work needed to support future battalions when the time is right.
As we move into the second year, the focus becomes turning that growth into a broader, more unified regional presence. The aim is to expand our booth footprint into major hubs throughout the Southern Regiment, while also being intentional about where and how we grow. I want this to be shaped by the people who are actually in this regiment, so I’ll be asking for your input and ideas on where you’d like to see us show up, which events matter most to you, and what kinds of opportunities you think we should be pursuing as a community. Your perspectives will help guide where we invest our time and energy.
With that in mind, I plan to host regiment meetings from time to time so we can talk through these ideas together and make sure everyone here has a voice that is genuinely heard. Over the next few weeks I’ll be laying the groundwork for many of the things mentioned above, and you’ll start to see new threads opening up around each of these topics so we can dig into them as a community.
This isn’t something I plan to do alone or from the top down. This community has always been powered by the people in it, and my role is to help give that energy direction and momentum so good ideas don’t fade out before they become something real. If you have thoughts, or even just a feeling about where the Southern Regiment should go next, I want to hear it, because that’s how we turn enthusiasm into something lasting over the next two years.
I’m proud to be serving alongside such a dedicated group of Spartans, ODST, Marines and friends. I look forward to what is ahead for our wonderful Southern Regiment!
