Space Marine Pep Models (update Post #29)

Portal what helmet are you doing?? and also how are you finding it?? i wanna try and make the SM one that Trint posted looks soo sweet ^^ but not sure my level of pep is up to it. I made the hal Sniper Rifle thats about it ^^.

Venom- i did Trintlords original (is that still the one on the front page?). it will require a LOT of work... and i mean alot... there are a lot of small folds, plus you will have to be creative with some of it, fill in the gaps as they say.

also Trintlord, thanks heaps for all the work your putting into these!

Edit: anyone working on unfolding the newer versions of the helmet? my original build came out to big (i suggest going with the default size people, i made 10% bigger and its to big, and i have a decent size head) and I'd like to make one of the newer ones next, rather than dealing with heaps of those tiny little folds again.... lol

Still working on the chest piece for Space Marines. The chest is proving difficult because of the scaling issue. I need to come up with a way of making the armor look like it has the broad shoulders of a space marine, but fit on a normal person....

Here is what I want one day:

These guys made some awesome Black Templar suits, and after asking them sent me a "guide" on how they did it. Instead of making the chest from pep as originally planed I may try to make the templates for their armor which is cut from plywood (or similar material) and then covered in insulation foam and fiberglass.

Thoughts?

those are indeed black templars.

they are what appears to be a sergeant and a standard marine from the Black Templar Chapter

and i believe the USMC word youre looking for is: hooah! but these are NOT those kinds of marines

Actually, i believe one of them is meant to be a brother captain(minus the bolts in the head...), the other a standard marine.
As soon as i get a little money together and find the right materials, I'm going to start working on a suit the same way they did theirs. aside from the helmet, which will be pep, and modified to be the crusader style helmet (i think that's what its called)
oh, ill also be doing the backpack in pep, just got to get some cash to pay skip.

Since I'm planning to do a Chainsword and bolt pistol with MDF (and perhaps later cast them) I'm working on some templates in Illustrator, I've never used it before, and its sort of basic stuff, but everyone should be able to understand it.
Hopefully ill have something posted later tonight.
I'm also going to start work on a pulse rifle as soon as i find a sheet of MDF the right width and get this: http://www.justtools.com.au/prod2816.htm (best tool EVER)

Hehe skip is good at helping out. Portal ^^ He does some great models too. Just they gunna be expensive for comissions. The back pack should look cool though ^^.

what thickness should the bolt pistol come out to?
ive got someone with a "layzor" cutter, and was thinking about making cutting the parts out of acrylic or somesuch (well...not the grip or barrel, but hte main body and detail parts)

we are actually bouncing around ideas currently for making up some ork-style weapon kits (one or two bodies, with differnt congifuration options for decoarations/barrel/magainze/etc)

My local hardware store has it for $45
MDF is easy to work with, and its cheep... plus i don't know anyone with a "lazor" cutter...

An orc weapon kit would be pretty cool, just make a random assortment of blades and barrels etc...
come to think of it, after i cast my bolt pistol Im gonna "ork" one

Nirvana: yes they are Dark Templar, a type of space marine, as Jax said.

The router looks like a good idea, like a manual CNC. If that works out well enough I may have to try it!

I am looking into my bolter file and am trying to find a way of having it be able to be built as a bolter, bolt pistol, or with combi weapon. The combi-weapons would be a slide-on. the pistol would be made by not building a central handle part.

The chest file is nearly finished. I added a flat part to the back for the pack, which is my next project. I have decided to throw minimum detail on for now so people can decorate them however they want. I will probably make up some chapter emblems that can be printer and traced onto foamboard, or other material thicker than paper.

oh and if you want lazer cutters, look up Epilog Lazer. good lazers with large area for relatively cheap prices.

Is it hard to unfold? i really wanna start the next helmet, figured if unfolding is reasonably simple i can do it myself, save some time... ill just need to buy pepakura designer.
