Tips for making guns

Im beginning on a project to make a replica gun from halo 2. Can anyone give me some useful tips on what ill need or how to make it look good.

Expensive Version-

Make a mold and make copys of it, like Adam's AR.

Cheap-

Pepakura gun.

or Use cardboard.

Nice avatar, but i would print out life size sides of the gun and trace it on carbord or foam bored.Then assemble it Basically pepakura except squarier lol.
