Another FYI on the patches: I may not be able to get a quote for these for the next week, if at all. My wife's shop doesn't do too many paches, and not at a bulk production rate. Their embroidering machines are mostly for garment like shirts, hats, and jackets... so if we wanted to do a mass order of like 50 at a time, it prolly would be best to go to someone who specializes in patches.

And the person in charge of that department is on vacation for the next week.

If we ever want garments done, or prices on screen printed shirts though, she can get us a good rate.

hey you guys,

i can make these in a water slide decal for members i make police car models on the side. so i can make these so you can slide them on to the armor and they would look like they were painted on.

what do you think?

thanks,

dont start making them......we are only going to have certain people making them...only the chosen ones will make them

My 2 cents for what its worth and other have said this in one way or another. The military usually has 2 versions of the same patch. A subdued one in OD green and black for the BDU's and a colored one for the dress uniform. For armored ground based vehicles (thinking the Mjolnir Armor might fall into this category) Only have the subdued insignia (Unit Patch) painted on (Granted the blue or red armor is hardly Mill Spec lol). The colorful type of unit insignia painted on is only seen on aircraft. Anyone building or customizing there own armor obviously will put whatever they want on it. But if you wanted to look more military it would be smart to stick to regulations and go with a subdued insignia for your armor and a colorful one for shirts merchandise ect. But whatever the command structure decides on I will go with. We just need some clearly defined regulations for how this will be used for the group. If we want to be as respected as the 501st we need to be professional.

All these patches are sweet. we do need to wtite regulations for armor and ODST/Marine Uniforms.

My two cents:

Black baground with silver logo/lettering on Left shoulder of armor
Regiment 'Patch' on the right shoulder of your armor (all regiment patches should be approved by moderaters!)
A designation under your official 405th patch (spartan, marine, odst, etc)
EX.

Would Say Spartan, Marine, ODST, etc on it and go underneath offical patch

I'm working on a rough idea of the silver and balck... So I'll show that when I'm done

EDIT:

405Patchrough.jpg

I was thinking more an outline of the logo, but I couldn't get a good outline...I'm working on that now...

I also played around with ideas for TN reg. patches. I stuck with a clip art like appearance, because I know colors get expensive. Tell me what you think, but keep in mind they rough drafts.

I know the 405 is kind of hard to read...I can fix it later if need be...

My brother wanted me to make this one. I like how it turned out. Originally it was two ma5bs crossed, but it didn't look right, so I changed it.

EDIT EDIT:

Heres kind of what I was thinking of on the logo.

When will the 405th insignia decals be available? I just had my shield done at a local graphics shop and got 12 for $10.00. It would cool to have a 405th on one shoulder and my shield on the other.

Can't wait to get a 405th sticker!!

Below is my shield from the Knights of Honor Scenario Paintball Team. I had a 3 1/2" X 2 1/2" vinyl label made without the gold leaf.

I'm not sure if anyone has discussed this or taken it into consideration, other than patches, if you guys planned on using this to brand the site etc, have you made a hi-res or vector version of the Logo? It'll cut work down in the future if you do plan on widening the branding, and you should also have a clean version of the original logo that lacks any effect (color, metal fx, drop shadows etc).

If you haven't, the two things I can recommend, either trace it in B&W in Photoshop or illustrator and at the least make it 300 dpi CMYK for print, RGB for screen. You might also need to do what's called "masking" (aka alpha channel or hi-con) for print and perhaps for a patch logo. Just some thoughts, I'm not trying to be a know it all and sorry if you guys discussed it already, I'm too lazy to read through 8 pages.

i think that were all getting to fancy, we should stick with what we already have and be proud of it, not try to change it.
the logo itself looks great and shouldn't be changed

Out of sheer, utter curiosity (and nothing more), I got started on something a little more 'specialised' for myself.

If you take a look at my sig, it should become clear that I'm a member of the Borg Collective. Now, my desired emblem for the armor set I'll be creating will be the Borg Emblem - however, what are the thoughts on perhaps merging the ODST/405th logo for such a purpose?
