Sorry if this was posted before, or the instructions to do so was. But, what would the scale be for someone around 5'5" - 5'8"?

sorry but how do i open the scaling window on pepakura designer?it wont let me open the scaling thing

2DPatternWindow- scroll down to Scale Up/Down by specific scale.......

I started my helmet tonight.
About 5'11''= used the formula posted earlier in the thread:
5'11''= 71 inches+ a little room for error and additions =73 inches.

Formula:
Height---cm-------Base Scale Multiplier-----If current scale is 30.342
73-------182.5-----0.848837209-------------25.7554186

So far, its looking to be close. Will post pictures when completed.

make sure u add around 2-3 inches :(
i made my helmet and chest armour and when i tried to fit my head in chest armour, abit of my armour ripped :( silly me

Relax - mistakes happen. It's all a part of learning. Besides - be thankful it broke now, as opposed to after you finished the piece.

Also: it might be an idea to edit the first post of this thread with all the scaling information and tips, to save the lazy ones of our number from giving up halfway through the first page, then making a mistake because they never got all the info they needed.

Yes, you print the pep file out onto card. Otherwise it's going to be too weak to hold up to the resin/glass process and you'll end up with a huge mess.

would this count with a helmet because i tried it on mine but it actually made it smaller. i posted a topic earlier on this and everyone kept on saying "read the stickeys". i dont really see how this helps at all.

Here we go peeps.
This should work for the most part, if you have a normal sized body like Chief it should work for sure. But if you are a bit chunky so to speak, or the oposite which would be a bit of a rail (aka, that sexy girl Sean Bradley ;-) ), you will probably want to change the sizing a bit more or less to make sure your limbs and chest fit.
I'm not getting behind the formula because it's a waste of time. It seems no one cares how the math works just as long as it works. So here's what you do.
Add up your height in inches. There is 12" to a foot. We'll use my hieght for the example. I am 5'11" which equals 71 inches.
Divide that by 86: 71/86 = .82558
Multiply that number times the scale it currently is, 30.342: 30.342*0.82558 = 25.04979
Now in Pepakura, go into 2dPatternWindow and select "Scale Up/Down by specifying value"
Under scale, put in the new scale (for this equazion its 25.04979). Do this for all of your pieces to be symmetrical.
One thing to keep in mind
The size of the scale that is in use before you edit it is from the base of the ground to the top outside of MC's helmet. You don't really want the top of your head to be touching the top of the inside of the helmet if you expect it to fit right. So you may want to add two or three inches to your actual hieght before doing the math. This may help other areas as well, where it could come through a bit tight.
Feel free to ask any questions about how it's done here. But I would appreciate it if the PM's for me to scale their armor for them would stop. If you can't do this math (we're not in school, you can use a calculator), I can't help you.

What happens if i have a scale that is like 0.016115?

The sticky's are threads that contain basic knowledge that can be used by everyone in that particular area. Reading them answers a large majority of the simple questions posted again and again by those too impatient to read them.

For instance:
If you have a question about scaling Pep files to your size, try checking the scaling thread and read through it all before posting a question, which your not supposed to do. Instead, pm someone who seemingly knows what their doing.

i was making my ODST helmet when im like all of a sudden...ITS TOO FREAKING SMALL!!! Then i had to restart and create my ODST all over again :(

I tried to use the scaling option in pep only to have it not let me. Not sure whats up. Is it posibly the model can be locked in scale from another program, while its still a 3ds file?

I'm wondering about how to scale the chest compared to the helm. I've looked in the galleries, and seen several people's works in which the chest looked small compared to the rest. I'm 6'5", and was pretty skinny until I got my beer gut...anyway, the point is, should I up the scale on the chest a little bit? has anyone around my height completed a set? I'm curious to know how they scaled it and how it turned out...

In papekura theres actually an option to scale up development by 10% (CTRL + L) some people might just get away with doing that,I scaled it once by 20% and it turned out huge, but very good if you wanna put it over a motorcycle helmet!!
