Hi all!!!
Wow... it's been ages since I was part of a forum :) I have been on The Dented Helmet for years... but it was also years ago :D
Cosplaying has moved beyond Star Wars and I have done alot of Assassin's and Metal Gear costumes.

I was now able to procure a Muckle Master Chief statue and I had to make the Master Chief. Something of a dream when I was working on Boba Fett back in 2004.

I know some save the statue for casts, but I have no intention of selling any copies and thus recasting the statue would be very costly. Especially since I really, really didn't pay much for this thing :)

It's somewhat of a hobby project but I have enjoyed it alot so far. More soon!!!

Thanks for being here by the way, always fun to share a passion right?

All the best!!
Rick

And after alot of sanding, painting, foam adding, visor making and LED installation it now looks like this:

So... some more progress. I was shocked to find how well the armor actually fits. I was half expecting to have to make a very padded undersuit, but this can be done with some nice detailing without over the top padding.

This is absurd, I absolutely love it. What kind of weight do these pieces have? Are they pretty sturdy? Looking forward to seeing more of this!

Hey. Instant MC. Just add DIY. :)

That's an excellent find RBF. When I first started out, this was exactly what I was looking for but over here, these statues are nigh to unavailable and if they do pop up,they sell at prices you would not believe.
I've had offers starting at 2.000€ and only going upwards from there on. To stumble over such a statue at an acceptable price is very, very rare.

I'm really happy for you and I'm equally surprised it seems to fit like it does.

Thanks! They are quite sturdy, a little thin here and there, but I'll add some extra fiberglas at those spots. The weight is not that extreme so it's very wearable :)

I was very lucky with this find. I had shown interest in it years ago at the local gameshop, but they didn't want to part with it. Suddendly I was called in one day and they said they wanted to move the Chief out to make space for Big Daddy. They were gonna auction it. So I said... well... I aint doing no auction... I'll buy it now or not at all.

The price he proposed was ridiculous.... like... insanely low. My Hot toys Naked Snake figure was more expansive. Headoffice asked another 100 un top of his offer wich was still cheap like hell.

I donnot know what I have done to deserve this, but getting this thing basically thrown into your lap is just... awesome. Master Chief has been on my list of dreamcosplays for... well... since the original Halo came out. Now it's finally happening :)

Well, you'll be using it to let it come alive. That on it's own right is already reason enough for anyone to be happy for you. :thumbsup

I couldn't do much more at this point but I can't wait to continue :)
Check the bucket to see where this is going, well... paint wise anyways :)

Such a sick build man, way off the beaten path that most of us take! I'm looking forward to seeing you fully suited up from this statue!

I knew your face looked familiar...why I'm only coming across this thread now, I'll never know.
Regardless, I've followed your previous work via DeviantART over the years. (Mainly AC and MGS)

Looking forward to seeing your gifted progress through this project!

Thanks everyone!! Nice to hear you like it so far!!!
I was a little worried that I would never be able to call this costume my own, mainly because I didn't hand craft the armor myself. On the other hand... it's still tons of work and I hope to do something nice with the undersuit. I'll be starting the sewing work after I finished the armor parts and I can't wait to start working on it :D

Not much progress in terms of paint, but I thought you might like to see how I connected the chest and backplates. Works really well so far :)

Thanks guys!!!

Here's some more:

The chest will be raised some more once the padding and shoulder underparts are installed and I am thinking of installing the front part of the neckseal permanently unto the chest armor to avoid shifting and placing it a little lower. All in all I think it's coming along nicely though :)

No weathering on the backplate yet and the chest also still needs scratches and wash layers.
