    Jorge Armor Sculpt

@Hawkeye It is really heavy but its not meant to be worn like this. I will be making a mould and casting the boot once I am finished sculpting it. As for the shoe and shin being attached, once I cast them I can cut them apart to make them into two pieces.

    Jorge Armor Sculpt

Life caught me a bit off guard lately. I've been really busy with work which left very little time to work on the sculpt. But I finally got some time over the last 2 evenings to put in about 7 hours worth of work. I am taking my time since this is my first ever attempt at something like this...

    Jorge Armor Sculpt

Do you mean something like this? I designed/built it so that the pole can be removed to allow for the base to be placed on a table or Lazy Susan. This one is about a year or so old though.

    Jorge Armor Sculpt

Slight update. I made the cheapo leg mould tonight but didnt have enough plastic bags to finish stuffing it. So its still a little thin yet and the foot needs some filling out. But I will starting the clay sculpt on of this armature in the next day or so. Like always, thoughts and opinions...

    Jorge Armor Sculpt

Hello, I am a returning forum member. My account has been dormant for a while but I recently reactivated it. This is the only forum that I can post in for a bit of advice/help. I am starting my sculpt with the boots/calves/knee plates using medium hard, oil based clay. I am in the process...

    Molding An Hour Glass?

The piece will sit at a total height of 18" (the height of the plugs of the spindles is not included). Approximately 1.5" for the top and bottom bases (3/4" each) leaving the total height of the "glass" at around 16.5" which can be adjusted if needed. The budget is about $150 unless more free...

    Molding An Hour Glass?

I am in the process of making the hour glass from the following picture. I am making this for a local high school that is doing The Wiz. My college will be footing the bill on the molding materials but that doesn't mean that I am not on a budget! Currently the plan is to make a Hershey...

    Pelican Not Pelicant...

The search bar on the forums is your friend!!! Just refine your search a bit and try different words. Sometimes it can be the difference between a word or two. I know aqua resin is less toxic than normal bondo or resin so its a possible route. Another option would be using the hot glue...

Making Of Iron Man, The Armor

I found this video while I was poking around looking for some "How To's" on how to make plate armor. Thought all the Iron Man fans out there would like it!

    Domed Visor Pep

You might wanna try using a thinner gauge metal. 18 gauge might work out a bit better, 20 is to thin and 16 seems a bit thick. Since it's thinner you wont have to work as hard to get the details in it that you want. If it becomes work hardened then its not going to have much, if any give to it...

    Domed Visor Pep

Have you thought about trying to use some mirrored window tinting from an auto parts store? It could be applied after the visor has been cast. I'm not sure how well it would adhere all of the details of the visors surface though. Its just a thought. The other question I had is, have you...

My First Approach To Armor Building

When you put the resin on the outside, make sure that you use a FOAM brush. A regular paint brush, no matter how good you are, will leave streaks that you have to sand down later. You might also want to put the visor in the helmet. This will help to keep it from warping when you glass it...

    The Deka Arm

I was surfing around on Make: Blog and saw a short video about the DEKA Arm. It is a prosthetic arm that is being developed by the US government for injured military folks. While that is the initial application of it, the possibilities of that technology could be used world wide for people with...
