Dear 405th Members,

as you might know, we sometimes have the oppertunity to bring the European Regiment to a Convention and fill a booth with all our armors, props and general awesomeness.

Of course we want to share our experience with all of you, so this thread is dedicated to Con Reviews and Pictures. We hope you enjoy.

To start this thread of, we have our Review of 2017, so you can see what we did the previous Year.

Also: Check out out 2018 Con Calendar to discover, what cons we'll represent the 405th European Regiment.

If you want to participate, or have an Convention, you want us to be at, feel free to contact nintendstroid , 247District or TheCostumeGeek for further information.

Con Report: EpiCon 2018

EpiCon took place for the second time this year at the 03.02 - 04.02.18 in Münster, Germany.

We already attended the previous edition of EpiCon in December 2016 as regular visitors and really enjoyed the con.
Therefor we were really happy about the chance to showcase the 405th European Regiment with a booth at this Convention.

The Con wet just as expected and we had a lot of fun.
Our booth had a lot of visitors and the con went very smoothly for us.
We already got an invite for the next Edition.

But now enough talking. Have some impressions of our booth and the Con Weekend.
You can find the full Gallery at our FB Page right HERE.

Con Report: Role Play Convention 2018

RPC took place at Cologne, Germany at 12.05 - 13.05.2018.

RPC2018_Ankündigungsgrafik_405th-European-Regiment-960x960.jpg

Many of our Members already attended the previous editions of RPC as regular visitors for several years and it is a main event for many of us.
Therefor we were really happy about the chance to showcase the 405th European Regiment with a booth at this Convention.

In 2017 we made our very first Booth at RPC and we came back for more epicness in 2018. The Con went just as expected and we had a lot of fun.

Our booth were next to the Young Avengers Europe and the Disney Brocesses. Those Cosplay Groups worked with us in the past and we also have members who are in several of those Groups, so we had a great neighborhood.
Our booth had a lot of visitors and the con went very smoothly for us.

We are already certain to return to RPC in 2019.

(mini) Maker Fair bodensee.

A bit far away at the border between zwitserland, austria and germany.

Verry nice conventionhall combining a Ham radio fair with a makerfair.
Calling it a makerfair might be a bit over the top quite small even comparing it to a mini maker fair.
It was their first year adding cosplay to it, and they will be making this part bigger.
We put our best foot forward and the only ones of the cosplay invited to actually make something on the fair.
Molding casting, foamwork, soldering electronics, 3d printing and showing of our collection of halo props.
Most of the maker people where unfamiliar with our materials and way of working.

Options where there to sleep inside the conventionhall or at the camping place set up just outside of the convention center.
conventionhall itself had showers for us and it was nice to talk with other cosplayers and exhibitors during the night.
Downside of it was that you couldnt leave the complex after 9 pm.

Nice convention met some new potential members.

(place for pics)

Comic Con germany (stuttgart)

Our biggest booth to date with also a small group.
First time we brought our brand spanking new "photo wall" a great addition to the booth and easy to take with us.
Had some trouble on friday with tables not beeing in the contract with the convention but an easy fix.
Lukas was gracious enough to provide us a sleeping spot for the members that had to come from further away.
Thanks lukas.
Saturday morning a lot of stuff still needed to be brought to the con floor.
This wasn't the easiest thing to do combined with a huge traffic jam in the morning it caused for some stress among the members.
We had a lot of positive feedback from visitors.
The gaming corner was well visited on both days, sunday it was full from 9 till closing.
New addition was a tent so we could store all our stuff there out of sight, it also provided a place to change clothes.
We can only bring this tent to the bigger convention booths.
Nils brought some more supplies to show of the process of pepakura from beginning to end. made it easy to explain the process having resin, fiber and pep on location.
Photo corner was awesome with our troup of marines and spartans people came up and got in line for pics in front of our machinegun ammorcrates and photowall.

DoCon Con Report

by TheCostumeGeek

The DoCon is an very small con that is organised from a fellow Costuming Group (the Star Wars Fans Dortmund). The Money they earn with tickets and tombola goes to a Camp for Kids.

The Con took place from 22.07 -23.07.18 at the Ice Sport Center in Dortmund, Germany.

We had a 6x8 m booth and brought the gaming area and presented our live crafting.

As always we had the opportunity to talk to fellow costumers and guests and afterwards we attended the DoCon aftershow party. We had a great time there and the food and drinks were very good.

It also was possible for some of our members to stay at the convention hall and sleep inside the booth.

On both days we managed to take a proper group picture what you`ll see here, as soon as we get it back.

The Con was fun as always and we will be next year :)

Gamescom and Fanfest

Just like every year, the 405th european regiment visited gamescom 2018.
Even though there was no Halo game or announcements at gamescom we had a great time! We got asked by Xboxdach to be in a promotional video,
and even got to go on the main stage to fire up the crowd for a fanfest ticket giveaway. Our Cortana even got to choose one of the winners herself. In addition to that we got to meet head of Xbox Aaron Greenberg.

Thursday evening was Fanfest evening!
Just like the last two years the 405th european regiment was asked to attend.
This year we got to party hard on a boat and take pictures with loyal xbox fans.
We met some new members we added to the group and where able to put some faces to usernames.
Random odst’s, spartans and AI’s where found aswell

Next up Zurich

Con Report – SciFi Days Botanika Bremen (DE)

We got invited to a small SciFi Event at the Botanika in Bremen, Germany.
The Botanika is a botanical Institute with an exibition and a big greenhouse.

They are split it in several themed Sections and some very nice Locations to take Pictures.

The Event took place for the first time from 08 – 09.09.18 and we were one of several Costuming Groups they invited.
They provided a seperate house for the Cosplayers to change and store stuff. They also provided drinks and food and we were able to get Autographs from the guests for free.

We sadly only could make the Saturday because of a second event, and we brought our Photowall.
The Photopoint was set up in greenhouse on the top floor and we had a short way to our house and the nice photospots. The staff of the event was super nice and took good care of us.

If the event takes place a second time, we will definately come back.

Now enjoy some pictures we took.

That first photo with the push broom is fantastic. When you don't have a weapon prop with you and someone wants a photo, IMPROVISE!

Con Report – Zürich Game Show (CH)

Zurich Game Show took place from 15.09 – 17.09.18 in Zürich and is the biggest gaming Convention in Switzerland.
We got invited by Xbox DACH to explore the Con and be guests at their booth together with Samsung.
They provided a room to change, store our stuff and take breaks.

We made some contet for social media and the rest of the time we were free to rock the con floor and play all the games.
The con itself was very nice and we got very well recieve.
We even recruited some new swiss Members to join the 405th with their HALO Costumes.

Now enjoy some pictures.. More can always been found on our Facebook page or on Instagram.

Herofest Con Report

This year the first edition of Herofest took place from 12.10-14.10.2018 in Bern, Switzerland.
We were invited by the con and got a rather small 12m² booth which sadly was shaped a bit awkward (2x6m) for our usual booth concept and a bit small for the number of members we had on the con.
Some of the new recruits we made in Zürich got to have their first booth action already and proved to fit in the regiment just fine.
They had a big cosplay changing room for each gender that was stocked with energy drinks, and even tasty swiss ovomaltine drink and snacks, it made every morning and evening so much better.
There was a well stocked repair station that even had stuff like epoxi glue and a dremel and two friendly helpers, we needed that service once sadly but managed to repair everything.
We had a guy that was responsible for us and other cosplayers that could fetch us stuff or information at all times, such a helper really shows the con cares about you.
They asked us to 'play security' for the sponsors that were shown the con as a funny little touch to the tour, a service that we gladly provided.
We had a really good time except some issues with the provided hotel rooms and some false information regarding parking but we managed to solve those issues.
Enough text, time for some pictures!

Dreieich Con Report

The Con:

As a result of our presence at Comic Con Germany in Stuttgart this year we got approached there by the organisator of Dreieich Con.
Dreieich Con is a classical Role Playing and Tabletop Gaming Convention with it's focus heavily on the playing aspect, it was held from 11. - 12. Nov. 2018. We were the only costume group invited/present besides four members of the 501st, who walked the floor on saturday throughout the day with us and opened the convention together with us at 10.00 am. We got upgraded from one to two tables at the beginning of the convention so we had enough space to lay out our props, lore books and collectibles and also had space to put up our banner. We also got a page in their program booklet. [will attach pictures later]

Accomodation:
The accomodation was exceptional, we were provided with 3 double rooms for the 6 members attending which were at the Mercure Hotel Frankfurt Airport Dreieich, the rooms were B I G and the breakfast even B I G G E R. At the con itself there was a backroom for exhibitors/staff where we could get free drinks (water, Iso-drinks, softdrinks, energydrinks) from fully stocked fridges and there even was free lunch for everyone. We also had a seperate room to change in and out of costume.

Reception:
Sadly the visitors were not very interested in us as we had nothing to offer which could be played. Very few pictures were taken and sunday went by very slowly. The reason for this is that the organizer asked us not to wear costumes on sunday because it was memorial day for the victims of all wars in Germany and we were in a facility owned by the church.
The other exhibitors on the other hand were interested in our craft and we had some nice conversations while setting up / breaking down the booth.

Feedback / Improvements:

Even though we felt a little out of place the con was still very enjoyable and we were asked to join the con team next year again under the same conditions as this year. For next year we plan to bring some Halo-related games and maybe convert an existing tabletop game to a Halo-Themed game to get more in touch with the crowd.

[Pictures will follow here]
