I see that you will be building a bolter out of wood, any concerns about the weight? Though this will certainly be more durable than a foam weapon.

Progress is coming along good, keep at it! And it seems like this has been a bad weekend for car accident, my brother flipped his car Saturday morning. He walked away without a scratch, and I hope your sister is safe as well. You did say that you took her home, so I guess that is a good indicator that she is alright. Drive safe everyone.

Thanks man, yeah she is alright. She hit her head pretty good but is OK no concussion. And as far at the weight thing, yeah it crossed my mind but I don't think it will be a big concern. I've made it out of pine which is a lighter wood than most kinds, but we will see when its done. I can't wait to get it finished and see the final piece.

Sorry to hear about you're sis.

As for the up-dates You're seal came out looking awesome, as well as the shoulder.

Been working on the shoe alot recently, also got the right shoulder finished minus the paint but I wont show that off till that is done, its a suprise. lol
but here is my work so far on the left boot.

as you can see the shoe is practically finished, I plan on permantly putting that pair of Vans into the shoe somehow implementing Chewie's velcro shoe tut. and gorilla glue/epoxy resin to get it in there since I dont plan on wearing those shoes again. They have been donated to the cause. Also ignore the dripped/oozed glue on the sides of the shoe this isnt finished I still plan on sanding that off I only just got the sole put on the bottom.

speaking of sole, here you can see what it looks like

I have been working on the thigh and shin too, got some major trimming to do on the bottom lip/trim of the shin it doesnt want to sit right on the boot. Ah well they dont call 'em WIP's for nothin.

Also Bolt pistol goodness

It should be pratically finished minus the paint by Saturday, speaking of paint, what kind of paint schemes do you guys suggest for this?? I kind of like how volpin props did theres with the black and gold but I am open to suggestions.

Nice boots, I was wondering how you were going to attach them to your feet, and now I know. It might be a little akward to walk in, but it should really look good!

Bolter is starting to look more recognizable now, you expect to be finished shaping it by Saturday? You are moving right along. And I agree with you for the paint job, Volpin's is my favourite too.

Can't wait to see more of your awesomeness!

I dont know if I ever put any updated pics of the gold trimmed gauntlet up or not, so hear ya go.

Also, BUM BUM BUUUUM, the backpack is finally sanded down to an acceptable level, I am so HAPPY to finally be done with that part of this beast.

You guys will have to help me with where an acceptable height on the chest this thing should be, I dont want to get it wrong.

also I got two purity seals bumped out, seals are hand sculpted and the litany's are hand written and influenced by a couple of different sources, mainly Divine Comedy - Inferno
536612_2871589400024_1568550114_32058087_86275677_n.jpg

They were dipped in tea for the final color

and they will by no means be going exactly on this location I just wanted to show what it would look like in comparison to the suit.

well not alot of major progress, but that pack is a major milestone for me, let me know what you guys think!

Backpack is looking good! That must have taken loads of sanding. How heavy is it now? I cannot wait to see the decal work, you always do such a nice job. Have a good Easter weekend!

Mate this is turning out to utterly inspiring and amazing. Been following your progress on the suit since u started on both obscures and her on the 405th. Truly incredible is all I can say.

Dude. I honestly cannot express how incredible this is. You are doing an absolutely fantastic job, and it's people like you that make me pick up the craft knife and brave the hot glue gun after a month of being lazy and doing nothing. I'm only just restarting on my project, but I've got two pauldrons, a shin, a full arm, a Boltgun and a Bolt Pistol all ready and rockin'. If mine even ends up half as good as yours, I'll consider my job complete. A few questions, if I may...

1) You put me onto Ral Partha's builds. What height scale are you using on the legs? I got mine at 950mm, and I'm about 170-ish centimeters high. I'm basing just about ALL of my scaling on guesswork and me holding a measuring tape going "Yeah, that SHOULD come out ok..."

B) Ditto for the arms. For me, at least, if it's big enough to get past my wrists and elbows, there's an insane amount of room between my arm and the armour. If I make it so it's snug against me, I usually can't get it past elbows/wrists.

III) That's the same as my shins. So far, to make it right, I'd have to cut it in half, length-wise, and have some sort of hinge and lock system. See, I can't get the top of my shin piece past my knee, which is a bit of a problem. Thoughts?

That's all. Again, man, you have done an amazing job with this. I don't come on the 405th a lot, but wow, I'm going to definitely keep checking in on this build.

Got the right eagle shoulder finished last night;

562471_2878001600325_1568550114_32060275_906616412_n.jpg

I did just so happen to set the strap in place to cure before I left for work so after I get home and I add some fiberglass and resin in place for extra bond/hold I will definitely be test fitting this bad boy with the chest piece don't you worry.

Ok so it was suggested to me that I post something about how I rigged up my shoulders to wear.

I felt that that was a good idea since there is no conclusive way out there to do this.
Well everyone has there own way, but there arent enough tuts out there, so here is my go at it.

first what I did was gorilla glue some 1'' nylon straps with 1'' male parachute clip inside the shoulder about where I want it to line up with when on the chest.
553709_2881077877230_1568550114_32061848_1520162148_n.jpg

Then I do the same with the female clip and strap on the shoulder of the chest.
557081_2881082037334_1568550114_32061850_355767491_n.jpg

Then I glass in the strap to make sure its not going anywhere
539971_2881090877555_1568550114_32061854_651838614_n.jpg

and you can see here where they connect inside
562023_2881097677725_1568550114_32061857_1508264066_n.jpg

557614_2881100317791_1568550114_32061858_454440559_n.jpg

and here is the final result
527271_2881094437644_1568550114_32061856_560399663_n.jpg

And since I alluded to the fact that both shoulders were finished and rigged to wear, I just knew you guys werent going to let me slide without a photo or two.

so here is what I have of the upper body that is finished thus far.

535762_2881132758602_1568550114_32061878_42855942_n.jpg

and as always, let me know what you guys think!

Wow I think its fantastic :)
Sorry it took so long to see this thread. Man I've missed out. Good job so far

Looking good. I have been thinking about my own suit for ages, and there's one thing I've been pondering for ages: If I'm wearing the shoulder pauldrons, how will I take my helmet off? If your shoulders show what the extent of movement would be...then I'm stumped. Like, not gonna like, that suit looks sweet, but I'd prefer to not be stumbling around trying to remove my helmet.

The only thing I can think of would be that I'd have to remove a pauldron every time I wanted to take my helmet on or off. I don't like the sound of that.

Thoughts?

The only thong I can say, and in my opinion its very important with a suit like this one, always keep someone around you who can help you don it on and off. My wife had to help with one of the shoulders the arms and put my helmet on, its pretty much the only option.

Also I wear glasses so with the helmet on I practically can't see anything so when I troop in this I will always need a handler unless I get contact's

Hmn. Thought so. Damn. Ah well, I might just go helmetless, or find a way to lock to to the armour on my hip somewhere. I mentioned to a mate about how the marines mag-lock their wargear to their armour, and he came up with a few ideas. But yeah, otherwise I have no idea.
