2nd ODST build

SpartanSweed bullied me into making more forum posts, so I guess I am going to document the process of making my new ODST. Right now it is being printed, and it'll take at least another 8 weeks before everything is done so I have lots of time to plan. My current reach ODST is decent, but I can definitely build a much better one with everything I've learned, and a higher budget. (Also, I doubt my current one can last much longer, the paint is coming off and things are falling apart). I definitely want much more armor coverage, so I decided to print the halo 3 galactic armory version. I'm especially excited for the backpack which I think will really add to the looks. Anyways, my current idea is a forest camo, military-ish ODST with tons of communications equipment and pouches. I'm not much of an artist so I don't have any drawings, but I attached two pieces of concept art that look quite similar to what I am going for.

Couple of things I want to include somehow:
-Tacpad: I've seen people do some cool stuff with these, maybe have a slot so I can use my phone as the screen?
-Antenna: No idea how to get one, But I'm somehow attaching a large one to my backpack
-Camo netting: Not sure yet where it's going, but some camo netting would really add to the vibe
-NVGs: Already have some printed, still trying to figure out how to mount them
-Pouches: Surprisingly expensive, especially considering how many I will need
-Radios: Probably the simplest, just printing and painting some stuff.
-Helmet electronics: mic+headphones and a fan (never done anything with electronics before)
-Holster: the random strap I glued to my old armor just aint cutting it
-Neck cloth (shemagh): For reference, the thing Jun has
-Wraps: Just some cloth wrapping around legs would make it look more worn
(I'm adding to this as I get more ideas btw)

for an the antenna i’ve done a large one like that before. I used some walmart wood sticks and a cap out of an electrical wiring kit. you can make it out of all kinda of random things.

Sounds much better than my original plan of trying to find a car antenna
Love the concept. As for the radio aspect, you could find a cheap ham radio antenna to attach to your pack. I can help look for some if you have an idea of the length you’d like.

Also on the topic of radios, if you want a handheld radio to attach to your armor, you could get a Baofeng AR-5RM amateur radio on Amazon for $20. Of course, you would have to be licensed to actually use the radio. But if you want something for looks that could later be used for communications, it is an option.

Again, I love the concept. I think that more practical ODSTs with pouches and other such equipment look sooo good (not knocking those that don’t, they look good in their own way.)

Good luck with the process!

Never thought about using actual radios, I’ll definitely look into it

I love the idea of a ghillied up ODST! Tons of accessories and comm equipment will be gorgeous. Any plans for a weapon to go along with it? Could net up a BR or a sniper and really get the full camo getup

I could totally imagine a sniper or maybe a dmr with a ghillie wrap mounted beside the backpack, and it would give me something to work on while waiting if I made it out of foam.

Just looking at some different options for painting, probably going to go with plain green or a camo pattern, open to suggestions though.

Yeah especially if it’s gonna just be decoration on the back, you could probably spare 70% of the detail that’ll be hidden by the net lol
