I received permission to post this so I am happy to show you all my process from my discord post!
I made a replica of the 405th logo from the standard materiel from my work, 12mm pressed PET felt board.
Under normal circumstances this material is used for acoustic dampening but I have a bunch of scrap that i save up for fun occasions, like this!
I created a layered pop-up effect by milling out pockets for hidden inlays and have the main logo be higher than the background.
These parts were cut on a precision CNC machine utilizing an oscillating blade to make it as accurate as possible
To ensure that the Logo takes visual priority I made the black text flush to the surface of the backer.
This one is a foot high. and around 4 feet wide, only weighs about 5lbs.
The colors were achieved by cutting the different parts out of sheets of different colors before assembling the final product
This was mostly a first pass so there are a few small errors that I will fix on future versions, which will include increasing the border size in accordance with the identity guide.
I would love to make one of these for each regiment but I know that any creations will require the approval of Asguardianhammer before I make any more.
also there is slight limitation on the colors I have available.
For the above I used 4, 20, and 24. The blue color was from an off-cut part that we don't typically stock
This was a lot of fun. I hope to make more
