Hey 405th,

I recently got my hands on one of the PMander suits from the "Faith" films. It's all rubber with foam for stability inside, and it works okay. I'm wondering if it can be salvaged though?

The helmet is actually pretty solid. It seems to be mostly resin and bondo with a motorcycle visor. It's probably one of the few decent things to come with this armor, and it fits pretty well.

The pants are awkward, at best. It is a solid piece of rubber which goes from mid-chest to the knee and has to be pulled on like trousers and secured with suspenders to be held in place, otherwise it's so heavy it will fall down. Can the thigh pieces and cod piece be salvaged and mounted some other way? The cod piece is rather large in itself, probably 36" if it were a pant waist.

The torso is also awkward, its very unstable and again, made of rubber and foam. It fits, but I also had to attach it to the trousers with velcro to make it seem "okay" and make sure it stayed in one place. Is there a way to make the torso more stable with some kind of support? Maybe like motorcycle pads or something?

The boots are actually pretty well made. They are one-piece from foot to knee and are snug, which are nice. I don't think these need any salvaging.

The forearms are okay as well, but they're loose and made of solid foam. I combated this with pulling an old boot sock over my forearm to make my arm a little larger, and also gives the forearm traction to hold onto so it doesn't slide up and down.

The shoulder and bicep are one piece slip-on rubber. It's put on after the torso and tucked into it. I wonder if it's possible to take the "armored" bits off of the rubber and secure them some other way?

All in all, it is a decent suit. I'll put up pics Friday after I wear it out in full to give you all an idea of how it looks on me. The range of motion is extremely limited currently (found that out while trying it all on earlier). I appreciate any help or ideas on this from you all.

I'm sorry for not making it more clear, but I did NOT make this costume. I got it from PMander/TJ Ledoux at Profyle Studios. They made the Halo Faith stuff. I'm simply wondering if any of this can be salvaged to be a better costume than it currently is.

Other than re-painting it, I don't think there's a easy way of making this costume "better" than it already is. Unless you're a good sculptor and have the materials, I'd say it's easier for you to just build your own armor. Nevertheless, you shouldn't get rid of that armor, because, well, it's a Spartan armor, and Spartan armor is a Spartan armor, no matter if it's a bit "crappy".

I agree with just about everything you said John. This suit is salvageable but you'd have to be experienced with sculpting and know what materials to use and such. I'm sure there are some guys here who could look at it and give you a detailed list of materials and instructions so I'd keep up your search if you really wanna save this. For someone new, it's best to do your very own suit. You'll have ALOT of trial and error, but that's half the fun, you learn from it all.

DO NOT throw this away! I don't care if you think it is a worthless piece of crap. That is still some good handy work and if you truly don't want it send me a PM and I'll take it off your hands. :)

Best of luck to you my friend!

I appreciate the feedback. I am going to be starting my first foam build once I figure out how to effectively use the pep system and get my materials. If I do get rid of it i'll let you know King ;)

You'll be amazed how much better this would look with a new paint job. It is junk by no means. I would mess with the paint and then decide if you want to change anything. :D

it might be worth giving it a base coat of some of the latex paints to help seal any cracks that have formed over its lifespan, but really the only things i would say would maybe a new paintjob, and maybe get your undersuit sorted ( a lot use motorbike armour padding) and put some mounting points on it to help keep things like the torso in place

Interesting piece you have there. It would take a lot of work and expertise to tackle such a project. A new paint job would definitely make that suit jump out 100% more for sure! Good luck! :)
