Adding Weight To Weapons?

Bondo.

Sand mixed with white glue.

You shouldn't add weight. If you do trooping one day, you will love something not heavy.

fishing weights distributed about the inside of it with foam

its a lil annoying cause you have to fiberglass
cut open it in small areas
then glue in something to hold the weight in place and put some expanding foam
let dry
the re fiberglass over and continue on with bondo in etc.
but thats how i did my assault rifle and its got some weight to it

i wouldnt do it to larger weapons, my sniper rifle is already heavy enough as is

Well, I like it to be reasonably heavy. I know it could get tiresome but, I'd like it that way.

Use wood.

I jammed a 2x4 up the butt end of my pep assault rifle. It's a great weight but you'll want to plane it down to somethign a bit more specifically sized to what you're doing.

The best thing ever-
get some buckshot from a sports store, pour it into your whatever, you can do it in halves if you desire, then heat paraffin wax and pour it over the top of the weights...that way the weight is in the exact place you want...

IF you have access to the inside of the weapon I would suggest a small dot of either super glue or hot glue to hold the weight in place until whatever long term glue you wish to use sets. Liquid nails works great. You will want something with a lot of gripping power and something that won't release with heat. Super glue works alright for a lot of things, but its a brittle glue and will break loose eventually.

One of the easiest and cheapest weights I could suggest came from boy scouts pine wood derby racing... Use pennies, glue will easily stick to them, 40 or 50 will add a lot of weight and it cost you only 50 cents. Not to mention you can stack them to add reinforcement to certain areas.

Wood will add reinforcement if that is something else you are taking into consideration.

I wouldn't add more weight than is necessary to balance the weapon. Odds are if you are wearing your costume someplace, you will have to carry this weapon around for at least 4 or 5 hours...

I recommend weighting around the grip and trigger housing... that way it is sitting on your hand and isn't heavy only on the end or front of the weapon. It would also make it easier on you for the long carry.

It worked for me.

Actually, when I talked to some of the Bungie artists at the Emerald City Comic Con, they told me that the animators have a bunch of realistically heavy Halo weapon props that they hold when they are filming themselves for animation reference, so the characters they animate look like the weapons they hold have some heft to them.
