IDK about wood filler but I am going to expeirement with drywall mud (hole patch repair mud). It's super easy to sand smooth even though it gets touchably hard. Now I'm going to be making molds of my peices so i dont really need it to be durable. it really cannot take a beating. but im sure it will hold for what Im doing.

Joint compound is very very brittle. I dont think you will have much luck with that.

I've been hearing that bond is used after resin n fibreglassing. Can wood filler be used as and alternative??

Wood filler works on small areas. Its not good on a large scale because it is also brittle. If you are in the US, check out Durham Rock Hard Water Putty. Its cheap and holds almost as good as bondo. Just add water. This can be found at Lowes or on line. Works for me in all the stuff iv done

I used woodfiller on my Odst helmet and it turns out great and even better than drywall compound. The drywall compound is softer than woodfiller and easily get dented and cracked. I try both of them and I like woodfiller for bondo alternative and one more thing I have to sealed them with modpodge or resin before paint.
