It's getting close now so I thought I should throw up a thread and see if many people were planning on going and possibly convince anyone that hasn't made up their mind yet ;)

Is anyone else planning on going? I can never remember what time the doors open (like 8 or 9am I think) but I'll be there way early on both days as usual (I think exhibitors get in at 7am) and will be armored up for most of the day... last year I did a total of 15 hours in armor, nine hours on the Sat and another six on Sun.

They have a detailed guest list on the Official site but here's a quick C&P:
Christopher Judge - Stargate SG1
Liam O'Brien - Naruto
Disco Inferno - Wrestling guest
Spike Spencer - Neon Genesis Evangelion
Marv Wolfman - Teen Titans/ Crisis on Infinite earths
Susan Blakeslee - Fairly Odd Parents
Lisa Furukawa - Animation Singer Guest
Christian Gossett – The Red Star / Electra: The Hand
Matthew John Armstrong - Heroes
Tracey Scoggins – Babylon 5 / Crusade / Lois and Clark
Raven - Wrestling Guest
Hynden Walch - Teen Titans
Nicola Scott - Comic Artist Guest
Gary Graham - Aliennation, Star Trek Enterprise
Alexis Cruz - Stargate SG1/Shark

Some pretty cool guests :)

And of course, the big news that Weta will have the Warthog there  they don't say what days so I'm assuming it'll be both and with a bit of luck, since we'll be local, they'll bring some of the other Halo props up... I wouldn't hold my breath on that but you never know.

So yeah, if anyone is going to be in town and has some free time, post away and maybe we can meet up and get some photos or something.

I also thought this would be a good place for photos so if you find any of the event or take some yourself, feel free to post them or links to them :) Weta and the Armageddon site normally have their galleries up a couple of days after, once they've updated I'll post links.
Here's some photo's from last years event:

I'll defaintely be there. Won't be in my suit though... No where near done :p

I just drew up an extremely simple layout of where I'll probably be most (getting photos with the promo girls is high on my list of things to do as well :p ), forgive the arrows, I can't figure out how to draw straight lines in pixelmator :rolleyes

Not sure where the 'Hog will be, maybe in the lasertag area... I didn't know it was there until after I left Welly last year so I'm not sure how big it actually is. Will have to try and get a game or two of lasertag in while in armor.

I'm sure it'll be around next year, we should have more people in armor then so maybe they'll let us take it for a spin :D

I'm actually a little surprised to hear he's coming back for this one, he was here for the last one about six months ago as well... he must like it here :) It's also kind of weird to see him in person with long(ish) hair, I almost expected him to be just like he is in the show

That's a pity but I'm sure there'll be other times :) I'll be keeping an eye out for pics from chch, don't think I've seen your TK yet...

The last time when they had the General Lee, is was towards the back - sort of where the playstation area is (There is never really an Xbox area huh??? :( )

So, we should meet up somewhere either before or after for some carbonates amber alcoholic beverages :p

Hopefully there's a bit of room where ever they have it, I know it was really hard to get around in armor at times last year... that area near the entrance to the main hall where they have the pizza stall is a massive pain to get past :cautious:
Yeah, there's never much in the way of Xbox :( all Auckland seemed to have was two machines running Timeshift... I'm hoping they have something like GTA IV this time :D

What time do you normally get there? Maybe meet up before it starts on Sat and work out what to do from there?

I'm not sure but I think that might have been a couple of years ago, before I started going at least :(

Promo girls rule.... Are you getting any photos with the stars?

I would be kicking myself if i did that.

That's a great idea! the laser tag setup they had at Melb Arma wasn’t that great, but it was ok (the really annoying part is the packs of 6 year olds camping you.

I'm sure it'll be around next year, we should have more people in armor then so maybe they'll let us take it for a spin :D
Invite the wetta guys out drinking after; imagine 5 Spartans and a couple of ODST's cruising around Welly in a hog, or walking into a bar.

He's also going to be in Melbourne in a few weeks, he's going to be around AUS/NZ for a while!

If the weta guys are kind enough, perhaps you could get a few close up shots of the ODST armor (if they have it there) as well as the hog, they would make some great reference pictures.

Possibly, depends on how much money I have on me, though I normally get quite a few taken with the stars just because I'm in armor. In Auckland we did a shoot with some of the animation guests, I think it was Billy West (Fry, Dr Zoidberg etc from Futurama), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward from Spongebob) and a couple of others that I can't seem to remember... it was pretty cool, I think there's a photo in the Armageddon gallery somewhere... found it:

It's watermarked so you can't see it very well, I'm the TK on the right
Here's a couple more of mine from the same event:
th_Picture_098.jpg th_Picture_113.jpg
You wouldn't believe how bad I sucked at that game on the PC :p (I'm closest to the camera) and me and the PS 3 girl :) (and another 501st member, though she's not in a 501st costume)

I would be kicking myself if i did that.

Thankfully there wasn't anything that great there last year so I don't think I missed much

I've never actually seen the inside of the area over here but it looks reasonably good from the outside, still lots of young kids though.... most are pretty good though, I've been invited to a few games in the past while in armor, also had some ask if I wanted to come watch the wrestling with them (was stuck guarding the front door though)

I know some of the local 501st guys and girls know some of the Weta crew fairly well so it could probably be arranged ;) Richard Taylor actually lives just down the road from me :D

He's also going to be in Melbourne in a few weeks, he's going to be around AUS/NZ for a while!

Cool, he does seem to be down here for a while, be interesting to see if he's back for the other Armageddons later in the year.

If they've got any of the armor there I'll definitely get some good reference shots, I'll get some of the 'Hog too :) I'll probably be taking a couple of cameras and I've got a friend that's offered to take some for me as well (I think he's going to have a pretty good camera there :) ) so there'll be plenty of pics surfacing after the event :D

I'm possibly going to be talking with some of them about working there (using the armor as a stepping stone ;) ) so getting references might be something that could be arranged... I wouldn't depend on that though, I don't know what their policy is on letting the public see the stuff that they've done.

The one below Vader is Neil Kaplan, he voiced optimise prime in one of the transformers series(as well as a few others), I met him last year, he’s a really funny guy!

EWW PS3 girls... were are the Xbox babes? :D

Guarding the door? So did you go as a volunteer?

Awesome! We could randomly rock up on his lawn in our armor... see what he says... (I don’t normally condone this behaviour... so kids, don’t use me as a role model!)

Cool, he does seem to be down here for a while, be interesting to see if he's back for the other Armageddon’s later in the year.
As far as I know he isn’t going to be coming to Melbourne Arma, I talked to one of the organisers and he gave me a run down on the guests they have lined up, Chris Judge isn’t one of them. But it’s still early, who knows what could happen.

I think I speak for everyone on the 405th when I say: Excellent!

Cool! Good luck with getting a job, I asked them about doing work experience, but they don’t do that because of confidentiality agreements and the fact that there working on movies that are kind of top secret...

Ahh that's right, I remember him being there now. I was pulled in to do the shoot all of a sudden and didn't really know what was going on :p

Xbox doesn't get much love here :( even after the launch of Halo 3 they still only had a handful of systems running and the only one running Halo 3 was in the booth for the elections (for government and what not) and it had no sound

We had our 501st display right by the front door last year so we would "guard" the door and take photos with people :) I had more photos taken in one day than I have in my entire life, actually I probably had more photos taken in an hour than in my entire life

Im sure he'd love that :p I think there was a guy that camped outside the workshop in Welly in an effort to get them to give him a job... I don't think that turned out well for him but having armor might make things different ;)

Yeah, it'd probably be too long for him to stay until the next Cons, will be interesting to see who comes to the events later in the year. All the cool ones that I really want to meet always end up canceling for some reason :(

Shame about not being able to do work experience but it's understandable, from what I've been told, there are times that people who work there don't actually know what's going on I did some alpha and beta testing for games a while back so I've had some experience with NDA's... they're no fun :(

Until we accident trash his yard....

I was told the full line up for Melb Arma, but the only one i can remember is David Hewlett, as he is the only one i want to go and see, i know it included a few startrek people.

like Bungie, they didn't tell a lot of the people working on the game the story of halo 3 except for the ones that needed to know.

Hmmm....

What time does it start normally?
Depending on the guest speakers and when they are on stage will usually define the time I arrive/leave :p

We usually work it out this week on when we get there etc...

Damn!! I wish i could go there, but I've got no finished Armour. Next year would be choice, then I'll have to pick between....Republic commando? or Mark VI?

So P0rtalman are we going to this gig next year?

Haha. I plan to wear mine to the Sevens next year (The real reason I'm making mine) but taking it to Armageddon would be cool as well.
Hee hee :) Just had the image of me asking the guests a question as MC :p

I'd vote for him. If I could vote. Hmm, better make that "I'd pester my brother untill he agrees to vote for MC". Wish I could go to Wellygedon, but I don't have the means. *Sigh* I hate being 16, with no money.
