Alright, so lets start this off.
[Btw I'm attempting Salem]

I know you guys love topics of "I may or may not do" /sarcasm

but first. Whats cheaper, sculpting and molding an army of two mask, even though I have no sculpting experience.

Or buying this for 115$ http://i4.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/f5/1e/a1e2_1.JPG

If you guys want my plans or blue prints I'll post everything up so I don't get my thread locked, but my drawings are so messy that no one can understand em, and most of its in my head, but thats not a trouble to write down.

I'm going with the light armor. http://www.holyfragger.com/images/wallpaper/272_839.jpg
http://www.holyfragger.com/images/wallpaper/274_841.jpg

Bomb collar will be constructed with foam, and then wrapped in fabric. But the front metal part was done by another costumer in foam. But I might go with sheet metal, but can it be cut by a dremel and how can I stick it onto the fabric?

And would grey be the best shirt color? Or white/another?

My main concern about this though is how am I going to do the shoulder pad.

Ideas please!

The SSC bag on the back I can probably make myself.

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2006/...3_screen004.jpg And the shinguard, modify one I might do. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/...oductId=2447002 maybe modify one of them. How I'm not sure, do tell me!

What else... That might be it. I'm thinking of going with marpat pants unless anyone else can help me on that. (and a white or grey shirt)

Oh--what kind of knife? I might just go with a cheap plastic m9 bayonet with sheath.

Course I'll post the rest why not.

For the vest: http://cgi.ebay.com/Milspex-LBV-US-MOLLE-A...1QQcmdZViewItem
If that doesn't work.

Kevlar vest underneath--probably will skip out for awhile as I don't want to spend another 40 dollars for awhile. especially for a not too necessary part, but we'll see when it comes to that time.

Gun- mines already pretty much done, but heres some pictures of the "real" thing. I'm missing the scope mount, scope, carry handle rail, "accurate light and laser and pressure switch" and magpulls.

And then some standard elbow/kneepads and a thigh pouch/holster.

Alot of questions in there but I'll address your main one. To be honest, since you have no sculpting skills I would use the pep files here on the forums for the masks and then take your time and do your detailing. Materials is going to be about half the price of the mask (paper, resin, fiberglass, bondo and paint) and if you take your time you can really make that other mask look terrible in comparison. Especially if you scratchbuild it and add the bolts and metal and whatnot...

As for the other mask it's pretty good I guess if you really want to avoid the work... just note that you're paying double for what you could make at half price.

Cheers,
Kensai

I agree with Kensai - save yourself the money and get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Cutting sheet metal with a dremel? Depends on the guage but I wouldn't advise it. Attaching sheet metal to the foam may be tricky but with some thought it could be done.

I would go with a gra(e)y shirt. And for the shoulder pads, I'm not sure. Research, check other sites, and ask. Or get creative and come up with your own way to do them.

Hope I've helped a little.

Alright, thanks to both guys above, you've helped out.

But like I said, this shoulder pad is presenting a problem. I'm sure I could make it out of random things, but I'm not sure how good that might be. But if it comes to that, got a procedure on how to do it? Or basically make it out of foam/fabric like the bomb collar?

Figured I'd at least update anyways. Even if it isn't much.

Did a quik photochop with the mask and all just to see how it all might play out. Obviously sizing on it wasnt great.

Note: The fabric is not attached to the foam and so it is loose. Also thats not the vest I'm using, and its a different color shirt I'm using.

Note x2: Details are NOT added to the fabric because clearly it is not attached. So its basically in step 1.5

But at least its some progress!

It's a good start! I can't wait to see how this is going to turn out.

Well. I think I'm going to go the cheap route and use the vest I have now, and maybe just get the Sykes[?] airsoft ao2 mask. It all won't look as good, but 1. it will be airsoftable. 2. it will be cheap. But the main reason is; it's not as fun with an army of one lol. But the reason I kept going was because I already bought the stuff for the neckguard, so I figured I won't let it go to waste.

It's not done, and of course its not perfect, this was all done in one night and its 5:30am as I write this. So, This is version...2? I guess? lol. It's not exactly how I planned for it to be but it still works, and its the most accurate I've seen so far. So that's always good. Obviously I haven't gotten the metal on it yet. Maybe one day I'll do the full costume, but like I said, being only me, and a game based on two people. It isn't as fun lol.

I'm feeling lucky that I have a potter on the other side of the street I can ask him nicely(and pay him) to make the helmet.

Nah,partially joking.

Awesome army of two vest! I should look into some AOT projects... Anyway, found this on youtube.

Personally I think the masks from the video are more worth it. They're less expensive, plus they're airsoft proof.

Lol, I saw the opening picture and knew what it was. Yup, thats cactushobby's airsoft mask. www.cactushobbies.com. They got known for making airsoftable facemasks that look real, and then they got lots of requests to make an AO2 one. The site shows more upclose pictures, the only problem is they aren't that accurate. I actually still might do it, just because I slightly decided to not go full on with the project but we'll see in due time. But I love the backstrap.

edit: And actually that vest is horribly inaccurate as well! I decided to be cheap and just use my airsoft vest--even though its the real deal and cost me around 200-300 dollars and I'm still not finished. The more accurate one is around 50 dollars shipped.

Lol, I wonder where you can get those back straps. Sure would help on a lot of my projects.

Well, If I actually end up doing the "accurate" version and get a good mask, I'm using my gas mask's straps. So basically, get a cheap gas mask that has that kind of backing.

Alright, so I still needa trim it a tad bit, but should I go

A. Dirty
B. Clean
C. Super Dirty

PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE.

I don't have a lot of support here but for everyone whose helped me out I thank you guys a lot. I honestly would have given up and not cared if you guys didn't give me a slight interest in it. It's not perfect but so far I guess its the most accurate out there so far.

I'm heading off to trim it but here were some previous photos.
